Thanks Tom! That was exactly what I needed. The Shortcuts applet
covered two of the three preset buttons that I have been re-mapping.

Thanks again!

I believe that the numeric buttons on the remote no longer call up

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Love the Boom - HATE the Radio

2010-04-08 Thread vdeknock

I have had the blue icon a few times and looking at the onscreen menu
which displays the IP information it has picked up a werid IP address
which is not in the range of my router. Not sure if this means it is
connecting to another wireless router - I would prefer to have the
option to select a fixed IP address as per the boom and SB3.

I find that I need to reboot the router and then reboot the radio and
it connects straight away. With 7.5 it has been up now for over 2 days
with no issues. This is a random thing and not something I have been
able to pin down. Could just be my old router.

I have now made sure that the router select the same IP address for the
radio based on the MAC address.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Alarm Reliability --> Obvious Modification

2010-04-08 Thread vdeknock

You can change the internal noise it makes. It should be an option that
can be adjusted from the menus but is not. I agree you should have a
few options.

Some instructions have been posted with a location on the net to find
the beep-beep-beep tone. It requires you to use putty to access the
radio internal file structure and it is just a replacement of a single
file.

[SlimDevices: Radio] Alarm volume

2010-04-08 Thread ziza

Has anybody experienced strangeness with alarm volume on the Radio?

I am running 7.5 but I noticed this problem on 7.4.2 as well. When I
set the alarm volume with the Radio and then change the now playing
volume the alarm volume mirrors the change. I will get a loud alarm if
I turn up the now playing volume, even if I initially set the alarm
volume low. The volume settings seem to work in tandem. Changing the
alarm volume will also change the now playing volume. The setting on
mysqueezebox.com does not seem to effect the behavior at all.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for your help.

My alarm worked correctly - it faded in nicely. I run SBS 24/7 and

I have pluged headphones in once but that was with 7.4.2 firmware I
dont have them plugin at the moment.

In my Opinion it is not practical to enter URLs with the SB Design

as a standalone Unit with an embedded Webinterface to enter URLs. But
it isn't. It is designed for a Client-Server Model (inherited from the
classic SB concept). As such it requires a Server.

Looks like Logitech has a spotty record with mysqueezebox.com but with

[SlimDevices: Radio] "Connection reset by remote host" on Radio since 7.5 update

2010-04-08 Thread mikedoyle

My setup is:
PC running squeezebox server.
2 x receivers (ethernet)
1 x boom (ethernet)
2 x radios (wireless)

Since downloading the 7.5 update, I can't get internet radio on ONE of
the radios. It displays the station title then flashes up a box
"Connection reset by remote host mms://" followed by a long string. It
streams music from my local library fine.

This is only happening on ONE of the radios. The other four devices
(including the other radio) are streaming radio fine. So,it's gotta be
a setting somewhere in that one radio. And it was working fine before
the 7.5 update. I've re-downloaded the update, still ng.

Any ideas?
Thanks!

Granted, I can't see why they did not include a means to simply enter a
URL from the front panel without a server (if only as a fallback when
all else fails).

When I asked for that for the Boom, the answer was "the firmware memory
is already full, we cannot add any more features". But the Radio should
have plenty of room. Maybe it could be done as an app?

yep, for example, with foobar2000 (a software player), I can simply add
the URL of a radio station--if it exists and I can find it--and play
without any intermediate provider needed. But I can't play things like
Pandora, or certain radio stations that don't provide URLs to link to
but do provide bundling with internet radio support (like some of the
Squeezebox sources).

Even with Squeezebox, I tend to use the direct URL address of a radio
station in my favorites if I have it.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] InputToActionMap.lua in 7.6.0 - r30465

2010-04-08 Thread Tom Wadzinski

Many of the the inputToActionMap.lua mappings now get overridden by the
Settings->Advanced->Beta->Shortcuts applet, which now offers a UI
interface to changing shortcuts.

Since you are comfortable hacking at the lua files, if you find you
can't change what you want there via the Shortcuts UI, you can dig
into: applets/Shortcuts/ShortcutsMeta.lua. Or, if you really want to go
back to the inputToActionMap way, you could remove the applets/Shortcuts
folder altogether.

Is it possible to edit preset key mappings in 7.5? Which file now
controls those mappings.

Thanks!

2010-04-08 Thread tcutting

Intall erland's "custom clock" applet, and the related "helper" plugin.
There is a whole thread on it in the forum, with various example
screens. His applet allows you to replace the now playing screen with
a custom one. That's what I use as my now playing screen on the Radio
(it's also in the thread as an example you can try).

The Roku SoundBridge doesn't require a centralized directory server in
order to play streams. The target URL is stored on the device when you
configure it via the built-in web server. The SoundBridge has a bunch
of other problems, but at least for the simple case of playing a stream
at a known URL it has a few less moving parts to go wrong than the
Squeezebox.

2010-04-08 Thread SushiDS

If you look at the SB-Radio-package, the "Now playing" screen looks IMHO
much better
than the current one, in which you can customize, ahem..., nothing at
all (exept the size of the picture).

I have customized "Now playing" screens on my Boom and Classic (with a
little help from "Music-Information-Screen")
and I'd like to do so on my Radio (bigger font, more or less
information displayed, ...)

So long,

[SlimDevices: Radio] 7.5 'breaks' Sleep

2010-04-08 Thread Tony T

Can someone verify before I file a bug report:

Select any screensaver for "When Playing" other then "Now Playing" and
other than what you use for "When Off" (i.e. select Digital clock)
Select "Sleep" when songs ends.

When the song ends, the player will "Stop", but not "Turn Off". Now
try with Screensaver "Now Playing" for "When Playing" and the SB Radio
should turn off when the song ends.

They don't. All internet radios I know of connect to some directory
server in order to look up the available stations and their URLs. The
only difference is that they access that server anonymously, without
the need to create an account, so you don't normally notice it. But if
that server goes down I'm sure they will run into problems, too.

The big advantage of the Squeezebox system is that unlike other
internet radios you -can- still run it from a local server, even if
mysqueezebox.com happens to be unreachable.

Same here. Radio will stop streaming now & then but I rarely ever see
the Blue icon.
That said, my beta Radio may be the one with the hardware problem not
the OP's. Maybe mine is incorrectly NOT displaying the Blue icon when
it stops streaming?

WinXP, SBS 7.5, DHCP handled by router (no fixed/static IP's)

General FYI for future thread readers regarding the WiFi icon colors:
Red = not connected to your router / network
Blue = connected to router / network but not connected to server (SBS
or MySB)
White = connected to network and server

[SlimDevices: Radio] Alarm Reliability --> Obvious Modification

2010-04-08 Thread peterdgreenway

All

I have had Squeezebox Radio for a little over month and I have given up
using it as a reliable alarm.

I run the SqueezeServer from a ReadyNAS Pro which is absolutely fine;
the ReadyNAS Pro is powered down on an internal timer throughout the
night and set to wake up 20mins or so before my usual alarm time. The
disks are set to spindown after 10mins of inactivity.

Despite explicitly setting an alarm tone, most of the time I get a
default alarm time. I think this is because the Squeezebox is unable
to wake the Readynas Pro and trigger the selected alarm.

Reading the forum I have read many reports of the alarm being
unreliable.

HERE IS THE SUGGESTION TO THE DEVELOPMENT TEAM

All you need to do is to allow the user to save short alarm tones
within the Squeezebox Radio and select them when setting the alarm
tine. This would mean that the Squeezebox Radio would not necessarily
need a network connection to play your selected alarm.

And for goodness sake, why isnt there a simple beep-beep-beep alarm
tone ?

I am really frustrated with the whole alarm aspect of it, other than
that it is fantastic !

[SlimDevices: Radio] Fallback alarm and SBR off after firmware update to 7.5

2010-04-08 Thread Rikk

Hi everybody. This morning the radio failed to play the channel set for
the alarm and played the fallback alarm instead. After this, it asked
me to update to the new firmware version 7.5! This sounds quite
strange.
After the update it isnt able anymore to connect to mySB!
Tryed to reset to factory settings with no success, as I rember it came
with version 7.4.3 and now, after the reset the fw version is still
7.5.
Then I had to go to work, so I unplugged it! Damn!
Note: I did all this while listening to the music from my SB3!
I'm getting quite tired of these constant problems...

Could be a DHCP issue - you could try to give radio a fixed IP address

post any MySB.com issues in the forum section called "MySqueezebox.com"

Well, in the bug fix:

...myself and one other have seen the same as you. As well as other
problems. Now that this fix is no longer beta I wonder if we're going
to see more users with fade in & headphone issues.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] how do I rearrange home menu ?

2010-04-08 Thread andynormancx

It isn't currently possible to reorder the home menu without changing
the LUA source code. So unless you are up for hacking into the LUA
source code you are stuck with the standard order.

[SlimDevices: Radio] Love the Boom - HATE the Radio

2010-04-08 Thread aussiebill

Firstly, please forgive this rant, I am so peeved. I am at my wit's
end with my SB Radio. As MANY others have also reported, my SB Boom
(bless her!) is rock solid and I have never had a WIFI connection
problem, ever. My SB Radio however, loses connection EVERY time I
power it up from standby, and even after an hour-or-so of playing. I
get the dreaded blue signal indicator and I have to cycle the power at
the outlet to get the connection back. I have even tried the Radio in
the same room as the Boom to see if there was maybe interference.
Heck, the Radio's normal location is 15 feet, line-of-sight to the
wireless router!

How the hell does one company get one product so right and another
model so freaking wrong?

I LOVE my SB Boom, it is easily the best item of its type I have ever
purchased. But the Radio, I am ready to throw it against the wall,
seriously.

I am currently running 7.42 but will try the new 7.50, if no-joy, it's
off to eBay, and I'll get another Boom for the kitchen.

[SlimDevices: Radio] Battery Performance

2010-04-08 Thread jonchill

Got my battery yesterday and reading the manual all it says is a full
charge will take 6 hrs but other than that there no further information
on performance.

Is it OK to leave the Radio plugged in to the mains most of the time,
it won't damage or shorten the life of the batteries?

If I use the Radio on battery for say 60 minutes the plug it into the
mains and do this a number of times will there be any memory affect
with the battery pack?

Is it useful to fully discharge the batteries on a regular basis?

Thanks

Jon
