Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Line-in: sound volume not high enough

2010-06-15 Thread andynormancx

I have the same issue when plugging any source via its headphone socket
into Radio. It is down to the fact that the headphone socket on devices
isn't designed to output a line level signal and the Radio's input is
expecting a line level signal.

The Radio could do with a gain control on the input, like the Boom has.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Line-in: sound volume not high enough

2010-06-15 Thread Grahame

This is probably the same issue as on the boom.
There is a gain (volume) setting on the line in input that is at 50% by
default ( so as not to clip the ADC with a "hot" input ). If you up this
value to a larger value, you can then control the output volume with the
normal (output ) volume.

See these threads in the Boom forum ( as the radio uses a similar
internal architecture)

Just out of interest, are you using it towards a Squeezebox Server
installed on a computer or are you using the central mysqueezebox.com
server ?

I'm just asking to try to get a feeling if your problems are related to
the software on the Logitech central server (mysqueezebox.com) or you
have seen bugs in the firmware or the Squeezebox Server software which
haven't been registered as bugs yet.

I understand your frustration and I'm sorry it doesn't work reliable in
your setup.

To increase the possibility of getting a working device when you bring
it back from the attic, make sure there are bugs registered for your
problems at http://bugs.slimdevices.com and vote for them so Logitech
knows there are more people with the same problem.

However, from what you describe, it sounds like your problem might be
caused by something in your setup. Maybe network disturbances or
something similar. To find and solve these, you should contact the
Logitech support unless you have already done so. As I've understood
help from Logitech support is included in the package for free, so if
you have some problem, just call them and see if they can help you
solve the problems.

Firmware version 7.5.1 r8837 is correct. It's the version released

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Now Playing artwork is not updating! HELP

2010-06-15 Thread Carlito

Hi MickeyG,
thank you for your answer. Good to hear from a developer who he is
interested in my problem, unfortunately the German support team did not
help me at all.
Since the 7.5. update approx. 2 months ago I do not have ANY station
art anymore when I am connected to mysqueezebox.com , EVERY channel
just shows the antenna. Strangely enough one station I have tried
stills displays its logo: RBB Inforadio. I hope this helps to solve the
problem... :-)
When I am connected via the squeezebox server all the artwork is fine,
but that is absolutely no alternative for me, I want the computer to be
turned off while I am listening.
The latest firmware yesterday did not solve me problem, neither did any
of the factory resets I have done so far.
I would be very thankful I you could give me some information, somehow
it feels like having a televison without sound and I am really about to
lose pleasure in my unit... :-(
Kind regards,
Carsten

to purge the installed beta firmware (since they're the same version

Aah, good to know! My server runs 24/7 so I have not had to rely on WOL
so far, but it took on occasion more that 10 sec to spin up its hhd.
That too was fixed in recend builds. :)

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] 2 SB Radio - one works, one doesn't

2010-06-15 Thread MickeyG

I would agree that this sounds like a bad unit.

Before you exchange your unit ... were you able to update the firmware
on the bad one? If so, what version of Squeezebox Server and firmware
are you running? Can you update your software and firmware as one last
check? Updating with either wired or wireless network would be OK.

Sometimes (but not always) updating the firmware to the latest helps.

Could you specify which radio stations you are listening to that are
not showing station logos? Some stations do not show them very
consistently, and many people incorrectly assume their Squeezebox is
defective.

It may not be the fault of the Squeezebox Radio or MySqueezebox.com,
but providing more detailed information will help determine this.

I have the Radio and the Duet and generally they have always worked
fine.
However,it would be a stretch to say that "there are no problems at
all".
There are often issues, but after a 60 year lifetime of shortwave
static
the device is a miracle and I am willing to put up with hiccups now and
then.
(Of course, I do not stream my own music or try to use the alarm.)
I have teamed the Duet up with the DAC Magic from Cambridge Audio and
the sound quality is fantastic--even on 32 kb streams.

You're correct. The batteries are Ni-MH. There's a smaller controller
running most of the front panel, and that controller controls charging.
No power means the controller can't charge the battery.

2010-06-15 Thread Bk1

I have the exact same problem: the alarm goes on with that unbearable
music. Then, if I snooze it, it sounds 10 minutes later with the
correct playlist I've set.

So it seams that the problem is that my server does not wake up in 10
seconds (and WOL is not sent or ignored). Is it possible to make the10
seconds timeout longer? I am sure that even without WOL, my server
wakes up in a 30 seconds (it's a NAS, it takes some time to start up 5
raid disks)...

Is there a server configuration file I can edit to make that 10
seconds, 60 seconds instead? This bug is driving me crazy...

Yes, Radio Paradise artwork improved here with the new FW. However,

[SlimDevices: Radio] Line-in: sound volume not high enough

when I try to play music via the line-in jack + mp3-player, the sound
volume is much too low. I turned the volume knobs of both the

reverse. Either way, whomever is making the decisions obviously
doesn't have to answer to shareholders or what have you. On the up
side you can't call them greedy. They're like a brother in law who is
a painter and keeps complaining that he doesn't have any work, yet when
you offer to pay him his normal fee for a whole house painting he never
shows up. Eventually if he does you can always knock the ladder out
from under him. Your sister is too good for him anyway :-)

Stay off of the ladders Logitech...

Well, I agree with Mnyb, my bugzilla entries have always been
acknowledged, too. Using the latest - now official - 7.5.1 firmware for
my Radio yields excellent results btw, the alarm works reliably every
morning (if I like it or not ... :D )
