Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Pandora Alarm Clock - Wake up to Pandora

2010-07-08 Thread eglynum

I know there are a few threads about the alarm not working right, but
what are you trying to wake up to? Few people actually mention that.
Is Pandora the only program that causes alarm problems?

Here's link to another thread reporting this issue:

Didn't see indication of a formal bug report however.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Squeezebox Radio chirps when off

2010-07-08 Thread tcutting

I've seen other similar reports on this - seems the radio occassionaly
"thinks" it has a battery installed when it doesn't, and that chirp is
the indication that the battery is charging. It's possible to turn off
the audible indications, but I don't recall the exact process. There
should be a "bug" filed - if I find it I'll post a link so you can vote
on it to try to get more attention. I've never notice this with my
Radio, but I have a battery installed so it's a different situation.

[SlimDevices: Radio] Squeezebox Radio chirps when off

2010-07-08 Thread ddorbuck

Hey all. I may be going crazy (according to my wife) but a few weeks ago
my squeezebox radio started making an occasional chirp noise while not
playing and turned off. At first I had thought that my wife or son had
messed around with it and set an alarm but we do not have an alarm set
on the unit. It doesn't happen all the time and goes for days without
making this noise but over the past few weeks I have noticed it on a
couple of occasions. Anyone else have this strange behavior on their sb
radios? My radio has the latest firmware and connects to my network via
wireless.

Thanks for any 'intervention' on this .. ;>

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Is there any solution to the disappearing preset bug?

2010-07-08 Thread tcutting

My understanding of what that setting does is to synchronize SETTINGS
between MYSB.com and your local Squeezeboxserver. No matter what,
Squeezeboxserver still uses MYSB.com to configure access to some of the
internet services (pandora, etc.). What you "lose" is that if you add a
preset, say, on MYSB.com, you wouldn't have the same preset on
Squeezeboxserver (unless you create the same preset there as well). I
don't recall what other settings are synchronize - I know a list was
sent out at one time. As I am always connected to Squeezeboxserver, it
doesn't make any difference to me, but I do indeed still have access to
Pandora, LastFM, Sirius, etc.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Is there any solution to the disappearing preset bug?

Thanks for the suggestion. Will I lose anything by disabling this
feature? For example, will I still be able to use internet based
services such as Rhapsody, Pandora, etc? I probably listen to those
more often than my own collection.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Squeeeze Box Radio turn off by Itself

2010-07-08 Thread nkat

I have each of the above problems now with my SRs. I had none of them
three months or so ago. I can no longer listen continuously or use the
alarm function with confidence. These are major failings in the
product, I'm afraid.

The unwanted self-powering down and muting are irritating enough but
the alarm problems are more serious. It has now turned on for a few
seconds in the middle of the night; it won't accept an alarm setting
sometimes and other times it will but not displaying the bell; the
alarm plays another playlist or a recent station.

The self-muting is really mad - I can unmute by pressing any remote
button, thus I know it's not a dropout.

The presets are no longer available on the remote.

I have rebooted n times and downloaded the current software likewise.
No joy.

I was very impressed pre-Logitech and just after when I saw Slimdevices
people, including the principal, on these forums. They were attentive
and responsive in the past to problems, including those of manifest
novices like myself using simple descriptions. I hope they are still
watching.

Snarlydwarf's request for precision is noted but perhaps I might
respectfully point out that this is a consumer product and a consumer
forum. Consumers vary in their modes and terms of expression, you know.

I look forward to some speedy and consistent remedy.

NK.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Is there any solution to the disappearing preset bug?

2010-07-08 Thread tcutting

I'll second the suggestion to remove the Sync with Mysqueezebox.com
option. I disabled that setting long ago, and haven't "lost" a preset
since. I thought they had fixed the problem, but since I never use
MySB.com directly anyways, I never bothered to turn the option back on.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Is there any solution to the disappearing preset bug?

2010-07-08 Thread mobileadam

Hi,

I don't use the latest builds but I had the same problem until I
removed the 'keep in sync' option with MySB.com (on the SBS settings
page). This is mentioned on a few threads and happened to my Boom too.
It has been nearly two weeks and my presets have always been available
since.

The SB3 works the same way the Boom does (as should all ip3k-based
devices). :)

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Can't listen to World Cup Broadcasts

2010-07-08 Thread bpa

The mysb.com host is in Germany so BBC thinks it is outside the UK and
so you get the "rights" messages.

There are two workarounds. 1. definitely works - I cannot test 2.

1. Create Favorites with the following URLs
BBC Radio 5 Live -
mms://wmlive-acl.bbc.co.uk/wms/bbc_ami/radio5/radio5_bb_live_eq1_sl0#slim:noscan=1
BBC Radio 5 Live Extra -
mms://wmlive-acl.bbc.co.uk/wms/bbc_ami/radio5/5spxtra_bb_live_eq1_sl0#slim:noscan=1

The "#slim:noscan=1" avoids the BBC seeing mysb.com.

2. This only works for Radio and Touch.
Install the BBC Radio Applet and play from Internet Radio/BBC
Radio/Listen Live menu. You know you have the right menu as this also
gives "Listen Again".

a. On Radio goto Settings/Advanced/Applet Installer
b. Uncheck "Recommended Applets Only"
c. Select BBC Radio.
d. Radio should reboot and now have a "BBC Radio" menu in the
Internet Radio menu. Make sure the "WMA streams" settings is off
(default) at end of BBC Radio menu.

Depending on your settings, you may need to reinstall this Applet if
Radio's firmware is updated.
