I guess this patch won't work anymore. As the fallback alarm is fading
in now, the place where the 'final' alarm volume is set is different.

I have the same problem, along with the well known auto turn on/auto

So my work around is power it off every morning and power it on when I

[SlimDevices: Radio] Possible? Reset everything and start from scratch (SB Radio + SB Server)?

2010-08-11 Thread Micha1711

Due to some problems I have in the last weeks, I want to ask if it is
possible to uninstall everything, clear the Logitech registry settings
and install everything from scratch again?

I've got a SB Radio and SBS is running (more or less) on OpenSUSE 11.2.
([ur]http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=81106[/url]).

I think somethings has been mixed up, due to several
installations/updates of the SBS, so maybe it's the only solution to
start again from scratch.

1) How can I clear everything which belongs to SBS on OpenSUSE?
(only de-installation and re-installation of the RPM doesn't work)

2) Is it possible to reset everything on the SB Radio (including the
firmware)?

Many thanks for help. :-)

Ikabob - Like you I have found getting the correct URL to be
problematic. It seems to be very random. Some sites are very clear
about their subscription URLs and others act like they don't want you
to know. Sometimes the subscription URL ends in .xml; others are rss
feeds. You sort of have to thrash around and experiment. Sometimes the
feed won't play on the radio because it is in a format that requires
special proprietorial software to play or because is a video feed. I am
afraid that Nancy Grace is a video feed. I couldn't get it to play.

An easy way to get the correct feed is to go to
http://www.podcastalley.com/index.php and either browse or search for
what you want then click on subscribe and up will come a page with the
subscription URL in a box. Just past it into the "add a feed" box on
the Podcast Player app and add it.

You can also try using the Mediafly app. I used for a while but it was
so user hostile I gave it up in frustration. But you can use
http://mediafly.com/Welcome to get ideas of podcasts that you may want
to subscribe to. If you see one you like that has a tiny headphone icon
(to indicate audio), you can click on it and where it says "show
details" there will be a little orange icon for the rss feed. If you
right click on that and copy the location, you can paste that URL into
the Podcast Player app and that should subscribe you and that way you
can bypass using the Mediafly app if you can't stand it.

It is all kind of hit or miss, but what can you expect with everyone in
the universe out there on the web doing their own thing. It is really
kind of cool, but I keep feeling that I am missing something if I don't
listen to them all. I gotta get a grip.

I rarely use SBS. I wanted a "stand alone" unit that doesn't rely on
running a PC server full time (but it's nice to have it available when
& if I need/want it).

Try this:
Set:
Preset 1 - http://opml.radiotime.com/Tune.ashx?id=s51172&partnerId=16
Preset 2 -
http://opml.radiotime.com/Tune.ashx?id=s124583&username=blatsd&partnerId=16
Preset 3 - http://stream2.u7radio.org:8000/listen.pls

Note:
Preset 1 - HAS station artwork
Preset 2 - HAS station artwork
Preset 3 - NO station artwork

Begin with preset 1 or 2 (you may or may not get station artwork, it's
a roll of the dice that I usually lose). Now press preset 3 (you'll
get the antenna tower since this station does not have artowrk). Now
return to either 1 or 2. Neither will display it's artwork after
coming from preset 3. And yes, sometimes, rarely, it will.

Also, on occasion the station artwork will display underneath the
"Preset #" box that appears right after you press the preset, but the
artwork goes away 3-5 seconds later.

Note that this doesn't just happen with presets (happens with favorites
too), but used presets to make it easy to refer to.

Sometimes, station description text at the top of the Now Playing
display will not change when the station is changed. It will retain
the prior station's text.

Also, I don't know if this is related:

Settings -> Screen -> Now Playing -> Now Playing Views

The selections for small or large artwork cannot be changed. You can
unselect one or both, but when you return to the item, both have been
selected again.

(I will add all of this to my bug.)

[SlimDevices: Radio] Alarm plugin fails to install with new software

2010-08-11 Thread vdeknock

Got the message last night to do an upgrade of the radio which appears
to have addressed a few alarm issues.

"Alarm improvements
Improved alarm consistency
Backup alarm volume slowly increases
Backup alarm will stop playing after 1 hour unless stopped earlier"
from MickeyG post.

Does anyone get the reduce volume of fallback alarm plugin fails to
work?

I am guessing that the new code reworks how the backup alarm now
functions.

DI.fm has station art?

I've *never* seen station or track art on my Radio since I bought it a
month ago. Never. Just that boring antenna. Mostly I listen to DI.fm
premium, both via the DI app and via URLs hand-entered into favorites on
msb.com.

I'm using firmware r9009, have been using the previous firmware, and
only use msb.com - no local server.

Please add my "vote" to this bug. (No, I don't feel like signing up
for a Bugzilla account. Shouldn't have to do all this for an appliance
that should "just work".)

Yeah, ok, the alarm worked three times in a row now, so it seems to be
back on a way to be trusted again. However, not one of these 3 alarms

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Mediafly

2010-08-11 Thread MickeyG

Porschefan:

All of the Mediafly configuration is done from their web site. You can
not configure this from your Squeezebox Radio.

Once you log in to www.mediafly.com, go to Browse Shows. You'll need to
add channels. To add a channel, find the one you want. Each channel is
displayed as a square logo on the screen. Move your mouse over the
channel you want. It will display a yellow-bordered window, with a top
half and a bottom half. Click on "+Add it" on the top half if you want
to subscribe to the channel, and "+Add it" on the bottom half if you
want to just add the specific episode listed. Keep on doing this for
all channels you want to listen to.

The next time you select Mediafly on your Squeezebox Radio, when you
choose My Channels you should see the channels you added. Make sure
you've linked your Radio to your Mediafly account by logging in to
www.MySqueezebox.com and configure Mediafly in the My Apps tab to use
your Mediafly account.

Mediafly has podcasts from around the world and many languages, so I'm
sure you'll find something interesting to listen to!

[SlimDevices: Radio] various problems MySqueezebox.com / Squeezebox Server

2010-08-11 Thread Micha1711

Hi,

I'm not quite sure if this is the correct section, or if I had to post
it in the MySqueezebox/Squeezebox Server/Linux section.

I already opened a thread in the Linux section
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=81025, because of
problems starting the SBS on OpenSUSE 11.2.

Now I've got another strange problem.

On Monday I updated my SBR to the newest firmware. After this my
problems still appeared, i.e. the SBR interrupts playing radiostations
after a few minutes. Then I made a reset of the SBR.

This morning I wanted to try to switch to SBS on my Linux-PC, but I
couldn't switch the SBR from mysqueezebox to SBS. A message on the SBR
appeared, saying that I need to download + install SBS (but it is
already installed + running). I tried several times to switch - without
success.

Then I de-installed SBS and installed again. I opened the webinterface
in Firefox and had to login with my mysqueezebox details. But... I got
the message, that the account details wouldn't be valid. Really
strange, because I can login on mysqueezebox.com without problems. It
seems that the SBS can't connect to mysqueezebox, so I can't switch my
SBR to SBS.

So... my main problems are
1) problems switching to SBS/to mysqueezebox
2) many interrupts while playing internet radiostations

Maybe someone could help me.

Thanks!

Michael

Before yesterday's update about the only issues I had were:

1. Random stopping of streaming afterwhile. (Happened rarely)
2. Random no-audio (would have to reboot to fix). (rare)
3. Random playing of the back-up alert even when my server was up and
running fine.

Now I have the following MAJOR issues:

1. Random playing of radio stations (Pandora). Will play a song then
cut out for a random amount of time (including hours) before playing
again. This scared my wifey half to death lastnight.
2. No artwork from any of my Pandora stations while playing.
3. I set all alarms to off last night but they all still played this
morning. (very annoying!!)

Basically, with the random playing my SBRadio is bascially useless now.

Same here! Using r9009 and msb.com.

Overall, it does seem less deranged than before, so I think 9009 is an
improvement. But having the wrong track info is a drag; it seems the
only way to force it to show the correct track info is a full reset.
By then the awesome track might already be over...

Ok, I applied the r9009 update yesterday. My alarm is working properly
for the first time in months today.

When I turned the alarm off (Natural Sounds) and switched to the radio,
it didn't stop playing after one minute and randomly go back to the
alarm.

Looking good so far. Looks like I'll stick with this for the time
being...

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Basic ON/OFF broken. Will this work soon?

2010-08-11 Thread bpa

R9009 can be got from mysb.com and is for 7.5.x. Connect to mysb.com
and then it should either update or you can manually check update.

It is not supplied with 7.6 - Radio currently has r8934 with 7.6

It's the Radio firmware for the 'nightly build of SBS 7.6'
(http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=7.6) IIRC.

Firmware Version 9009 ? Or Server Version?

Anyhow, where did you find that version?
