Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Distorted audio with one 128kbps station

2010-09-23 Thread shurik

Just as a proof of principle: MPC-HC allows to remap one of channels to
2 output channels. Use virtual audio device as output. Create a stream
from it using VLC. It works but it is neither practical nor reliable.

[SlimDevices: Radio] I'd Like Japanese Fonts on My Squeezebox Radio

2010-09-23 Thread jpshepherd

Can you help? I'd like Japanese Fonts on my Squeezebox Radio. I just
bought it. I saw on the forums info about this concerning the Touch
model but what about the Squeezebox Radio? I have tons of music in
Japanese text. Any ideas? If it can be done I would need detailed
instruction on how to do it. Thanks!!

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] SBR has died can anyone help?

2010-09-23 Thread toby10

I'd suggest a Hard Reset. You may have to unplug your Radio if the
Power Off button is not responsive.

SB Radio Hard Reset =
- power off Radio (press hold POWER button, see goodbye on screen)
- press hold “+” button
- power ON Radio
- continue holding “+” until you see Factory Settings Restored
- wait till Radio completely reboots on it’s own

Instructions that work with a Touch should also work with a Radio.
They both have the same firmware - just different resolutions for the
screen and different count of buttons.

Thank you for your explanation. It is good to know that it can be done!
At this link http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77342 it
explains a little of what needs to be done but does not tell me how
to do it. It talks about an SD card and such but the mine does have
that I don't think. What should I do step by step for the Squeezebox

[SlimDevices: Radio] Sound Quality great but needs tone control

2010-09-23 Thread Steveh100

The sound quality of my SB Radio is great for music but for BBC Radio 4
it lacks a little bite to help intelligibility. I assume that there is
a bit of gentle DSP tailoring going on. Has anyone worked out how to
change the eq.?

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] I'd Like Japanese Fonts on My Squeezebox Radio

2010-09-23 Thread bluegaspode

I think the best explanation is this one (working without SD-card):

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=535114postcount=3

Some additions as its written there very short:

to copy files over to the Radio, you can use the program 'WinSCP' (you
need to active remote access in the Radios advanced menu before).

To 'ssh' into your Radio you can either use linux or a mac, where this
command works directly from the command line.
If you use Windows I'd suggest to download the program 'putty'. This
one can connect to the Radio and you'll be able to enter the needed
commands.

Oh - and on the iPad Japanese seems to work instantly as can be seen on
this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLgwOEyFBbs
(hope this is japanese)
This video also shows the results on a Touch so this should give you
some motivation :D

To save battery.

(I thought it was 20 minutes.)

But it should probably be configurable, ideally. However, AFAIK it is
not.

But it does not matter, as long as you are playing music it's on, it
only turns of when not playing to save battery.
Then you can simply turn it on again to play some more music later ?
The on button still works.

It also so that it turns on by itself if you have an alarm set.

SSH

Secure SHell

In practice it's is a way to use the terminal (shell) on a Unix ,Linux
or Mac remotely connected to another computer .
The Radio is a small linux computer.

So you just start the terminal on you mac and then log on to the
radio.
Provided you have turned on remote access on the radio itself.

something specifically named on my Mac?

ssh r...@your_sbtouch_ip
# cd /usr/share/jive/fonts

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Internet Traffic After SB OFF

2010-09-23 Thread Ron Stordahl

I think what you are suggesting is that pause is working as expected,
however when taping the power button the connection should be
terminated.

My prior response was to give an explanation for what you were
observing.

Continuing to buffer when pausing but immediately terminating the
connection when powering down seems sensible to me. I was surprised to
discover it didn't work that way.

You do have to maintain the connection to mySB (or SBS) for control,
but that is modest compared to the streaming traffic.
