[SlimDevices: Radio] Station blocked by broadcaster
As of this morning, when I try to tune in WXRT in Chicago on my SB Radio, I get an audible message stating "This station is currently unavailable" and text on the display that says "Station blocked by broadcaster." At the same time, I can listen to WXRT through their website, and access it as well through Tunein.com. I'm not experiencing this problem with any other Chicago local radio stations. I just had the same problem this morning with WBZ 1030AM in Boston. I noticed that this station is no longer available as a radio station selection in the menu, it's gone! But, I am able to listen to the audio stream on my PC from the CBS website. They are using radio.com as the host site. I guess I'll be listening to something else now. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] SB Radio troubles
There's definitely something sub-optimal going on with the wireless client software. Having reverted to using the local server (rather than the preferred Squeezebox.com), I find that the radio nowadays does not distinguish between what used to be the "red and blue" connect status: Although certainly connected to the wlan, if the server computer may have gone to sleep, the radio will now show the red wifi icon and the device will abandon all attempts at reconnecting before manually using the (to me, at least, new advanced function) "Repair network". I guess this would be something similar to the Windows ipconfig /release + ipconfig /renew? (Good function - as these matters stand, would be useful to be able to put that into a customized main menu, but it seems that re-implementing this function has not received priority in 7.6?) Browsing this forum, I'm certainly surprised by the number of trouble issues/bugs that have appeared in what seemed to be well-functioning software a couple of main releases ago. Seems like the SB community is extremely dedicated to their setups, but for how long should one go on accepting the hours of troubleshooting & fidegeting with our wlans? With other home devices, we are after all rather used to wlan connections being fairly transparent as far as a trouble source goes? -- knutb knutb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=34425 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89385 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Indeed this is a CBS issue. They are restricting all streaming feeds to TuneIn. They want you to use radio.com or yahoo apps that are found on Android and iOS mobile devices. This leaves SB users out in the cold. This really really bad. Five of my presets this morning are gone. Only thing left to do is complain to CBS, but since they are trying to direct all users to their proprietary apps to get more advertising dollars this is not likely to change much. Their website is a joke. When I google the local station, the google result still shows "Jagger and Henson", who have been gone since mid-April. One of the reasons I bought a sqeezebox was to get the radio OFF my computer speakers. Preaching to the choir here, but when surfing the internet, various audio comes on and at different volumes. Understood, but I think the point is they are using licensing as an excuse for what is really much more about generating more ad revenue by pushing listeners to CBS Radio Android and iOS apps, along with their web sites that are chock full of advertising. -- vrette (3) SB Touch, (3) SB Radio, Cambridge Audio 840AV2, 340T, DacMagic, B&W 683, HSU VFT2-MK3, Logitech Harmony 880, 7.6.1 on Asus E35M1-M PRO Win7 64 bit , and a bunch of other stuff... vrette's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15256 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89618 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Squeezebox Radio Turns itself on
Awaiting the update... double checked on my Radio. Came home to find the radio turned on, but in stop mode. WiFi icon was white as it usually is. Most of the time, I find it on the clock screen but with my selected wallpaper. My main concerns are that it doesn't suddenly start randomly playing (no one else in the house would know how to turn it off without pulling the plug) & that my alarms come on when they're supposed to. -- lonewolfette9847 lonewolfette9847's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=49041 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89059 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Got it, I missed the nuance, it was a BS comment. Easy enough to understand why they push listeners to portals that give them more revenue opportunities. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Station blocked by broadcaster
I cannot believe CBS could be this stupid. They are pissing off some of their most loyal listeners. Who goes out and buys a $200+ internet radio except the most die hard fans! Idiots. I will definitely be writing to CBS and their sponsors about this and I encourage everyone who reads this to do the same. If we don't tell them we'll make them lose money they'll never listen. That said, can someone please provide a link that would allow me to listen to 660 WFAN -- daniely daniely's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=49042 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89618 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Station blocked by broadcaster
Thanks to all who posted regarding the sudden loss of CBS streaming on the Squeezebox. I too just lost 5 of my 6 presets. I grew up with WCBS 880 the great sound quality of the Squeezebox and with the battery option the ability to bring it anywhere around the house. (I live in upstate NY now and the Squeezebox sure beats the weak signal on a high quality AM radio). I definitely will complain to CBS. By the way, Tune In on my iPhone has also lost the CBS stations. I'm not sure how CBS benefits from that. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Station blocked by broadcaster
I was hit with this with a lot of my talk radio stations as well. I found a work around that seems to work. Go to a site like reciva and search for the station you want. then click the 'listen icon'. it will download the pls file . copy the url link and add it as a favorite. (if it opens your mp3 program, you can get the link from in there) Here is the WXRT link. I clicked on the feed and opened the .m3u file in Winamp. Then, I right clicked on the stream name for "file info". I have been using this work-around for a while now. -- FubarRadio FubarRadio's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=49047 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89618 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Push snooze - time before it happens
Just a small follow-up. With the current firmware 7.6.1r-something, the delay is (almost) gone. I have had no change in server and network, so it must be a change in the firmware (I run it on a 7.5.3 server). I have noticed two other changes in the radios alarm-functionality, so probably someone tidied up the code. The two other changes: decreased sensibility in the knob, when the snooze-menu os open. And it used to change the alarm-time one hour back whenever I wanted to adjust the time of an existing alarm. That bug is gone now.
