Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] alarm defaults to DISCO all the time

2011-08-27 Thread bluegaspode

Hi Chris,

the logs shows a working alarm on Aug 25th.
Here is everything as it is supposed to be: at 6:43 the radio gets the
signal from MySB.com to play your desired stream

On Aug 26th this signal is completely missing.
So in your case this is a bug from MySB.com, one cannot blame the Radio
or the stream.

I suggest opening a support case for Logitech. I guess their first
answer will be to try out all sort of things:
(reverting firmware, changing the stream, ...) but insist that this log
proves that MySB.com didn't send the needed signal to start the alarm
and Logitech needs to investigate this on their end. You might also
point to this thread to show them that you spent some serious time to
investigate the issue with us.

In the meantime my best advice is, that each evening you enter the
alarm setup window and enter the setting where you can change the
time.
Don't change it, just hit the big button so that this time gets resend
to MySB.com.
This *might* reset the timers on MySB.com so that it gives you a
correct signal the next morning.

Would be interesting if this helps, as this would show that MySB.com is
'good enough' for a single alarm, but not for an alarm series.

[SlimDevices: Radio] Put in standby in x minutes ?

2011-08-27 Thread BeSt

Hello !

I have a Squeezebox Boom and a Squeezebox Radio, with a dedicated
server under Linux. I really appreciate these 2, even more since the
battery pack for the Radio (~25€) !

There is one feature present on the Boom that is not on the Radio (or I
didn't find it). I would like to sleep with music: therefore I would
like to program the Radio easily (=1 button or 2) to stop playing music
in for instance 10 minutes.
Is this possible ? I didn't find anything with google, unless this
thread http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=149 but it
requires to write a plugin ! I can but I would like to avoid it !

A side question: is it possible to set the volume indepedantly for each
alarm on the Radio ? And why does it not power off when the alarm is
finished ?

Many thanks for your answers !!

If you use the Radio remote (same as Boom) it's the same as the Boom,
just press Sleep.
On the Radio itself absent a remote you must use Radio > Settings >

Try swapping the two SB3's. I'll bet the issue remains at the location

Ok the actual design error on Radio is the lack of that nice
rubberized/snooze sleep button, or any dedicated sleep/snooze button .

But if you are running 7.6 version you can move it to the home menu .

When you are on the sleep icon a short press on "+" would bring up a
menu to move it .
This will save one button press at least.

Also you can now hide or move icons up and down in the menus in 7.6
just use th "+" button to get a context menu

on the days that the signal is missing to play the desired stream, is
there still a signal sent to play 'a default alarm' or is that
controlled from within the Radio unit itself? A signal for an alarm
could not be absent completely on the 26th, if the default disco loop
activated at 6.43, could it?

Yes, it could.

The Radio simply keeps track of when the next alarm is supposed to
occur.
Its internal clock and some bits of software let it know the server
should have already contacted it to ring the bell, and since it hasn't,
the Radio will launch the fallback alarm.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] alarm defaults to DISCO all the time

2011-08-27 Thread bluegaspode

But be aware, the Radio itself only remembers the next alarm to be able
to sound the fallback. If it sounded the fallback alarm and then for
some reason cannot communicate with the server / MySb.com the next day
it will keep silent when the server still fails to trigger the alarm
because it does not know the next alarm time.
So when one hears the fallback it's a good idea to enter the alarm time
settings as well to make sure the Radio talks to its server properly at
least once.

There was one 'if' in my last statement ;-)
Typically the Radio is able to connect to its server to
synchronize the next alarm time at least once a day.
Just wanted to note that after hearing the fallback it's good to be a
bit more suspicious than under normal circumstances if one wants to
make sure to be woken up the next day.
