Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Downgrade UE Smart Radio to Squeeze OS

2013-03-13 Thread aubuti

You're right that it depends on the speed of the hardware, including the
network. But it's only a 14MB file, so I would think it would be done in
less than a minute. Certainly nowhere near 30 minutes.

After the command is done, it should come back to the command prompt in
the terminal. If there are errors, you should get an error message. I'm
not aware of any verbose logging for scp, but it may exist.

Hopefully, the final questions:

How long might this file transfer take? Seconds? Minutes? I know this is
all hardware speed dependent, but if nothing appears to happen in 30
min, something is probably amiss.

Will Terminal give some symbol or cursor or other indication of success?
Is there some sort of 'verbose logging' to be enabled to observe the
transfer progress?

I do appreciate the help.

Looks good to me, and the logic is exactly as you describe. It has been
a while since I have copied anything onto my Radio, but you may be
prompted for the root password on the Radio. The default is 1234.

So:

scp /Users/danny/Desktop/baby_7.7.2_r9663.bin root@10.42.42.4:/dev

Is that it?

The baby_7.7.2 file is indeed on my desktop and the file should be
copied into the /dev directory in the radio whose IP address is
10.42.42.4.

Not where I can try this right now.

Thank you so much.

That should be it. Let us know if it isn't!

OK, I thought the copied file should be visible in the /dev directory.

As for instructions-- post #68 on this page:

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?97331-Downgrade-UE-Smart-Radio-to-Squeeze-OS/page7

1) I DO have a real directory name in place of username-- that's just a
generic placeholder used in _this_ post.

2) Ditto above for "radioIPaddress"

3) Ah, the space. Will try after space excision.

Thanks,
