Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Downgrade UE Smart Radio to Squeeze OS
And some of the web radio too mherger made large chunks of the Tune-in stuff local in the 7.8 server beta . Thera are some plugins for spotify bbc and a choice of others that runs on a local server . But most apps will be gone if mysqueezebox.com turns off . The reason for the symbolic link is that the UE Smart Radio firmware will look for firmware at uesmartradio.com (where it will find UE Smart Radio firmware) and the symbolic link will make it take the firmware from the local file instead of downloading it from uesmartradio.com. When the device have Squeezebox firmware it will look for firmware at mysqueezebox.com servers and this will make it find Squeezebox firmware, not UE Smart Radio firmware, as long as you haven't selected on mysqueezebox.com web site that it should be "upgraded" to a UE Smart Radio. hip2b2 wrote: > > Does anyone know of any solutions to remove Logitech for the operation > of the SB and get full functionality. Some of the online services are going to stop working when Logitech shut down mysqueezebox.com, but that's unlikely to happen intentionally while they still have devices under warranty. However, it can still happen by accident since most of the people with the right knowledge has been laid off recently so if it breaks they might not have the necessary people to fix the problems. Future will tell if there will be an alternative solution after Logitech shuts down mysqueezebox.com. I'm not that worried for Radio and Touch since they can be loaded with custom firmware, the problem is bigger for the older devices (Boom, Transporter, Classic, Receiver) but they will still continue to work for local music as long as LMS works. erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97331 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

So, once the firmware is installed, the radio doesn't need to be 'diverted' to the new location(via the symlink) at boot-up? Now it's my turn to expose my ignorance. When you write "use a Raspberry Pi as a server..." do you mean use it as a true replacement for the Logitech server, or as a server for podcasts and music files? Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Downgrade UE Smart Radio to Squeeze OS
My ignorance may be showing, but does the radio need that pointer to the desired firmware? Without the symlink, would the radio be once again a "StupidRadio"? My formerly StupidRadio is much better and more useful as a Squeezebox. Now to use a Raspberry Pi as a server... ~DK dkfackler's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=59286 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97331 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Is it synced to another SB? Does your NAS or router go to sleep overnight? pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97630 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] SB Radio switches itself on
A paused player can sometimes restart i've noticed but it does happen very rarely , so on interfaces where there is stop I stop the players instead of pausing them , otherwise i whipe they now playing playlist if i'm leaving home for a vacations and longer trips . The Power On Resume settings may further influence this , I can imagine it bee a bit buggy when the server and player itself does not agree on player state , if you have the player set to resume playing when turned on it may act like this . Other settings may just make it to go to on state by this bug . Since you run LMS, I would check the logs. You may want to enable some of the player logging options. It would seem unnecessary once the device is converted to a Squeezebox.
