Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Setting up an Additional Radio
The first thing I'd do with a used Radio is a factory reset: https://support.logitech.com/en_us/article/13945 Next, I'd reapply the latest firmware. Go into Settings/Advanced/Applets and deselect "Reinstall after Firmware Update". Then, you can get Radio firmware here: http://update-origin.slimdevices.com/update/firmware/7.9.2/baby_7.7.3_r16676.bin Download it to your Squeezebox "\server\firmware" folder and reboot everything. Radio should detect new firmware or you can manually update it via menus. Once everything is confirmed to work as expected, you can apply applets if you want. There is no "easy" way to copy settings from one Radio to another. It's possible I'd guess if you SSH into the first Radio, copy the right configuration files, and apply them via SSH to the second unit, but I'd not call this easy and I don't know what files to copy. I'm not an expert on usage of SoX but I think the contents of the custom-convert.conf file would look something like this and the file goes in the same folder on your server as your convert.conf file. Alas, there is no Squeezebox Super Bowl ad and beginners are left to scrounge for what they can find at a reasonable price. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Beginner Needs Advice.
Your only challenge will be hardware. The Touch is the device to have but it now sells used for 2-3x its original price (although right now there is one "Buy It Now" on eBay for $320 which is not bad). The Classic/SB3 is also a perfectly fine solution and goes used for much less. Both will sit next to your main hifi, connect via RCA cable, and wirelessly stream your FLACs. Another idea is to use a Squeezebox/UE Radio. You'd connect it to your hifi with a cable like this: www.amazon.com/Mediabridge-3-5mm-Male-2-Male-Adapter/dp/B004YEBK66/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1393857600&sr=8-1&keywords=3.5mm+to+rca The audiophile in you may scoff at this solution but there will be no difference in audio quality vs. an RCA cable and the Radio is still available new and affordable. If you get the UE version, be sure to "crossgrade" the firmware to make it a Squeezebox first thing. The Radio may not ship with a remote but you can control it using any PC, tablet or smartphone. Currently the UE Smart Radio in black is $140 on Amazon including the battery! [SlimDevices: Radio] Shifting volume balance on sync'd Radio pair
I have two Radios in my living room that are sync'd (volume also) as a L/R pair. They are wired to my router. Often I notice that the soundfield seems to drift between them, as if one suddenly is of a lower volume than the other. After a few seconds/minutes, it self-corrects. Sometimes this shift seems to impart a different tonal character/equalization. When this happens, if I restart the track things go back to "normal" but this seems to have no bearing on whether the phenomenon happens again. This is a casual listening area so it's not particularly bothersome; I'm just curious about what would cause this behavior. Any ideas are welcome, thanks. P.S. I live in an urban area with many neighboring wireless networks, but my Radios are wired so I'd think that wouldn't be a factor. Could I be wrong about that? Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] use squeezebox as a speaker for my pc with wlan?
If you haven't already done so, you need to: 1. Install Logitech Media Server (LMS) on your PC 2. Point LMS at your existing music library folder and let it scan the contents 3. Turn on any of your Squeezebox players and select "My Music" (or "Internet Radio" or whatever). If you want to have music playing on your PC in sync with your Squeezeboxes, then install SqueezePlay on the PC and setup a sync group. All installers can be found here: http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=7.7 If you want your Squeezebox players to play back something else from your PC, you may have success with the WaveInput plugin. Yes, there are "wireless" cable solutions that operate over the wireless phone frequencies (Aperion Audio makes one), but what is the point when Squeezebox already was designed for this? Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Does anyone know if the Squeezebox WiFi radio can be used with 802.11n ?
You probably won't need to change anything to have your Radio work. My N router came out of the box set for compatibility with both N and G devices like Squeezebox. If not, it's an easy setting to adjust in the router management console. -- Apesbrain Apesbrain's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=738 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=91461 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Default "Album Art" image
The default image is probably hard-coded in the Radio software and not particularly easy for a novice (like you and me) to change. If your Radio is "stuck" on the wrong artwork you can unplug it from the wall, wait a minute, and plug it back in to reboot it. That's what I've done when this happens and it typically clears the situation. Alternatively, just press and hold the Power button until the Radio restarts. After you reboot make sure you are running the latest firmware: Home > Settings > Advanced > Software Update. -- Apesbrain Apesbrain's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=738 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=83508 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
[SlimDevices: Radio] Sometimes it just plain works...
After tracking delivery of my new White Radio and accessory pack from Logitech all day yesterday, it finally arrived and it is so cute! I took it out of the box, plugged in the battery and it started right up. It took seconds to get on my network and download a firmware update. After a reboot it prompted me to login to mysqueezebox.com and my favorites were there. Have been listening to My Music, Rhapsody and local radio ever since with total joy. The freedom of battery power completely changes the device, IMHO. Thank you Logitech for a great product and a great offer! Listening to it on the deck right now: -"May your strength give us strength May your faith give us faith. May your hope give us hope May your love bring us love."- Shana Tova. [SlimDevices: Radio] How to change behavior of power button?
Is there a way to change what pushing the power button does _when_on_MySB.com_? Currently it refreshes the display to show the logo of the last radio station but it does not start playing unless I push the play button or press one of the presets. I'd like it to start playing the last station again when power is pushed. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Radio WIFI range is worse than Boom
I don't mean to pile on, but my Radio reception is about the same as OP. In the same room as the router (802.11g/WEP 128) it works fine. If I move it a few rooms over, it won't connect. In the same spot my wireless laptop has no problem. I am running the current firmware. There's nothing remarkable in the "Diagnostics" screen except that the "Battery Temperature" reports over 2047'C! Can you tell me what values you are interested in? Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] How to Switch from SBS to MySB?
Ideally this source switching would be done automatically and transparently in the background. This distinction between MySB and SBS is unnecessary and holds back adoption of the device by non-tech users, e.g. my SO. Logic should be built into the Radio (and other SB devices) that says "if what I request to play is available on the internet, get it there; if it requires the server, start it up and connect; if it doesn't require the server, let it shut down". Fortunately, I subscribe to Rhapsody which means I can pretty much just leave the Radio attached to MySB and play anything. Unfortunately, many of the things I play are already on my server in a higher quality format. -- Apesbrain Apesbrain's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=738 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=71481 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Does Radio Support WOL to Server?
Answered my own question: Yes, the Radio will send a WOL to server. It just can't do it the first time it connects to your local server because (duh-slaps forehead) it doesn't know enough to do so. Your server has to be powered up for the Radio to find it and confirm it is the place you want to be attached. Next question: If I've just listened to my local server and now have switched to Rhapsody, does the Radio know the server is no longer needed and let it shut down? [SlimDevices: Radio] Does Radio Support WOL to Server?
Configured my new Radio today for MySqueezebox, but I'm not sure how to get it to switch over to my local server. When I select My Music from the home menu it gives me a message about downloading and installing SBS. There doesn't seem to be any way to get past this message.
