Is the restore to previus version functionality equally broken ?

The prudent thing to do would be to have that option on UESR.com then ?

It may be prudent from your perspective, it's just hassle and expense
for Logitech. They have declared the future, and it doesn't include all
the support problems that downgrades etc might cause.

It's a radio, player, whatever. It does what it does...deliver
audio content from the internet or a local server... Would you also
toss a perfectly good, working AM/FM radio?

Now, if something major changes and it won't work at all, that's a
different story. I intend to keep mine for years and years...as long
as it WORKS. Plus, you do not need a battery and the battery is
 replaceable, unlike your iPad...

But unlike an iPad, Logitech won't fix it for you. Broke, out of
warranty, out of luck. So it's not like a hifi component.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Logitech don't care about us ! Class Action

2010-12-04 Thread DaveWr

I haven't commented here for a long time, but the situation is fairly
obvious. Logitech resource commitment to releasing and fixing products
is not there. This has been the case for over a year now. Raising
support issues is about as much use as raising Bugzilla issues. The
commitment to the product line falls way short of requirements for an
effective consumer product. It is good that so many people continue to
populate this set of forums with issues, answers etc., but it belies the
real issue, the product owners (not developers don't care ).
Individuals need to make up their own mind about investment in
products. I have made my choice. People that have a problem with the
product, if in the UK, return under sale of goods act. The product
isn't going to be fixed.

Slim Devices was great - but the entrepreneurial spirit (still
expressed by the few remaining developers, and by the stalwart
contributors here) is in the past. Logitech have demonstrated by
action their position. You choose your response, but don't moan, that
is the way it is.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Simple setup - Loud burst before fade in

2010-01-23 Thread DaveWr

Sorry but your test case is nowhere near Jork,

you said SB server - he was MySB.com only
you said latest nightly - he was on whatever MySB assumed as latest
firmware.

Simple comparisons do require identical circumstances.

The debates in the developers forum are frightening, we are now on
maintenance release only, when it is obvious that the multiple
conditions that can occur between server (two choices), network ability
(local and worldwide) and the Squeeze OS have not completed a worst case
system design.

It is only an alarm clock ( just remove all but rtc based alarms for
now, and get the alarm to chase a source of noise that is available
(playlist, radio, local squeek, then check it remains streaming)
Currently the approaches are about boiling the ocean! A snooze by the
way at its simplest is alarm stopped new alarm set for now + snooze time
with same playlist action.

Apologies for rant but simplify then grow please for the customers
sakes.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] MY Alarm Issue, HELP!

2010-01-15 Thread DaveWr

With all due respect, in a device with a relatively sophisticated
processor and an OS, it should be simple to ensure whatever external
happenings or not, an alarm sounds at the due time.

They days of Slim Devices are over with the new Squeeze OS. So
reliance on server events either owner's server or centralised MySB.com
should be removed wherever possible for fundamental functions such as
this.

It is not as if there are any steadfast rules to really follow. The
Classic and Duet had no alarm function that was intended as a reliable
alarm. The Boom came with internal clock, and backup alarm.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Limited settings for Radio under Squeezebox Server?

2009-12-21 Thread DaveWr

I thought the issue was thin devices, SB3 Boom, Duet v the fatter Touch
and Radio that have significantly more local processor and decision
capability.

Therefore all the apps that ran in the SB3 world that micro-manipulated
the display, can't in the new world, unless they are local LUA applets.
