Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Lost wifi connection and unable to reconnect ?
I received the Following List of "Supported" Squeezebox Encryptions from Logitech's TECH Support... Here is a list of wireless encryption types that will and will not work with the Logitech Squeezeboxes: ENCRYPTIONS THAT WILL WORK: WEP - 64 Bit WEP - 128 Bit WPA - TKIP WPA2 - AES ENCRYPTIONS THAT WILL NOT WORK: WPA - AES WPA2 - TKIP WPA - TKIP & AES WPA2 - TKIP & AES WPA & WPA2 -- LHoust LHoust's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=50020 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86061 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Lost wifi connection and unable to reconnect ?
After a Week with 128-Bit WEP and MAC Address Filtering I only observed one more Interruption of an Internet Radio Stream (WiFi Recovered and the "Play" Button had to be pressed to restart the Stream, which was in addition to that "Partial" Interruption mentioned in my previous post where WiFi Recovered and the Stream continue by itself)... Having to Cycle the Power or Restarting the Internet Radio Stream once a Week, rather than once every morning (as it was with WPA/TKIP and WPA2/AES Encryptions), we might find "Acceptable"??? Therefore I will keep the "Old" D-Link Wireless-G Router configured with 128-Bit WEP Encryption and have the Squeezebox's MAC Address entered as the ONLY WiFi Client "Allowed"... Although still NOT a "Workaround" I would find "Acceptable" for a City Location (since both WEP and MAC Address Filtering can be "Cracked"), it will hopefully turn out NOT to have been a "Mistake" in the Country Location??? My Hope is this WiFi "Issue" will be addressed in Firmware Releases subsequent to SqueezeOS 7.6.1!!! Final Note: I am NOT using a Local Squeezebox Server, but rather MySqueezeBox.COM Directly... -- LHoust LHoust's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=50020 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86061 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Lost wifi connection and unable to reconnect ?
Although I have experienced similar Interruptions within Internet Radio Streams with Encryption downgraded from WPA2/AES to WPA/TKIP, 128-Bit WEP appears to be "Promising"... With 128-Bit WEP Encryption so far I have been limited to a single Occurrence where I witnessed the WiFi Icon Turning Red and after a short while the WiFi Icon turned back to White before that Internet Radio "Silence" turned into an "Interruption" (Play Mode had NOT turned to "Stopped" and the "Play" Button did NOT have to be Pressed to continue the Stream). I will continue with my Comparison between MAC Address Filtering ALONE and MAC Address Filtering combined with 128-Bit WEP Encryption??? -- LHoust LHoust's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=50020 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86061 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Lost wifi connection and unable to reconnect ?
After pulling my "Old" D-Link Wireless Router out of Moth Balls and configuring it for NO Encryption and MAC Address Filtering, I have had two Morning Powerups where the Internet Radio has continued to Stream past my "Critical" 1-Hour "Window"!!! Reasons the "Old" WBR-1310 was retired included Poor Wireless "Stability" when using WPA/WPA2 Encryption and being "Limited" to ONLY 10 MAC Addresses for the "Filtering"... Understanding that MAC Addresses can be "Spoofed" this would NOT be sufficient "Protection" for an Access Point in the City, although I might concider using this "Workaround" at the Cottage in the Country where the "Nearest" Neighbor is quite far away??? Plus I would use the WBR-1310 ONLY for the Squeezebox Internet Radio Streaming, leaving all other Wired and Wireless Devices on the "Main" DSL Modem where WPA2/AES is required for WiFi Access... In the Future my Morning Tests will have WEP Added to the MAC Address Filtering, although with WEP also being "Crackable" it would give the Script Kiddies a Second Layer to Hack through??? Lastly the WBR-1310 would only be Powered On when people were at the Cottage on the Weekends... That said the "Best" would be if WPA2/AES within the Squeezebox's Firmware could be made "Reliabably" with everyone's Access Points!!! -- LHoust LHoust's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=50020 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86061 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Lost wifi connection and unable to reconnect ?
This morning while watching the "Wireless Info" Screen the "Wireless Signal" dropped from its "Normal" Range of 80-90% down to 0%, then on re-entering the "Wireless Info" Screen the Squeezebox Radio reported "Not connected". It was actually on the "Network Health" Screen where the Squeezebox Radio reported "Wireless - no link"!!! The Icon had remained Red for a fairly short period of time (maybe 1 - 2 Minutes) before reconnecting itself to the Wireless AP (Icon returned to being White with all of its Bars), although by then the Internet Radio Stream had already Stopped Playing and the "Play" Button had to pressed for the Stream to Continue Playing... The Exact Firmware Version is 7.6.1r9482 and the Hardware Version is 5. At home I normally only get only one of these Internet Radio Stream Interruption/Red Icon "Events" each morning shortly after the Unit has been turned on after being turned off over night, so I will probably not see another Red Icon "Event" until tomorrow morning when the Squeezebox Radio is turned back on??? By Initial "Warm Up" Period I mean the Black Case above the Squeezebox Radio's LCD Display Screen is NOT really Warm or Cold to the Touch, although the rest of the Black Case feels "Cool" to the Touch!!! -- LHoust LHoust's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=50020 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86061 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Lost wifi connection and unable to reconnect ?
On one occasion while the Icon was still Red I had the WiFi Diagnosis Report there was "No Link"... There were other indications where the Squeezebox was telling me the Wireless AP was NO Longer Available (even though from other Wireless Clients I knew the WIreless AP was still Available), although presently I am NOT sure what I was doing at that time to get that Message??? The Firmware was Upgraded to 7.6.1 shortly after being purchased, although I seem to remember before with its "Factory" Firmware the Squeezebox Radio was displaying something slightly different when it was claiming the Wireless AP was NO longer "Available"... Lastly I am using the Squeezebox Radio as a Standalone Unit, I do NOT have the Squeezebox Server running elsewhere on the LANs (if that makes any "Difference" to this Wireless AP/Red Icon Issue)??? -- LHoust LHoust's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=50020 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86061 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Lost wifi connection and unable to reconnect ?
I am experiencing a similar problem after my "New" Unit has been turned off overnight, within the first 30 - 60 Minutes the Squeezebox Radio can claim there is NO WiFi Signal and WiFi Icon has turned Red (Status reports "No Link") and of course the Radio Stream has stopped playing (even though other WiFi Devices have NOT reported any Wireless Outage)!!! Typically occurs at least once each morning, possibly more times within that Initial 30 - 60 Minute "Warm Up" Period, after which the Internet Radio Stream can run uninterrupted all the way through the following night??? Although Single WiFi Outages can occur at home, with Cooler Mornings at the Cottage Multiple WiFi Outages can occur with that "Warm Up" Period!!! Compounded by the fact there are no Cordless Phones or other Wireless APs within "Range" (or even other Wireless Clients) at the Cottage (ie. the Country is a much "Clean" Wireless Environment that the City)??? After few minutes the Squeezebox Radio might find the "Lost" WiFi Source (the WiFi Icon having returned to being White, with all of its Strength Bars) on its own, at which time the Internet Radio Stream can be restarted by simply pressing the Play Button... Otherwise after turning the Unit off and back on the Squeezebox Radio might be able to find its "Lost" WiFi Source or it might NOT??? -- LHoust LHoust's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=50020 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86061 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
