I think I have had router problems as well as a PC slow to start. At its worst, the 'correct' alarm can start, and give me 3 or even 30 minutes of BBC Radio 4, and then suddenly give way to the jarring backup. Which is infuriating. In the 'old' days of 7.4.1, the backup would also give way to the chosen stream after a few minutes: that does not happen so much these days. (However, as someone else on the this list commented, it is the very unpredictability of this radio which gives it its charm, and prevents us taking it for granted.) I think I have set this to 'disabled', tho I'm not sure if this is the green or the black state. We will see. This morning JJ came on, I pressed back, then the BBCR4 button, and it came on. And then it stopped after 2 mins, later found to have been caused by the router going off. Many thanks to Bluegaspode for his comments: You hear the 'fallback' alarm which means your server is not ready yet to send the alarm-signal and play the proper stream. This fallback alarm currently doesn't fade in. The fallback alarm, very loud, very repetitive, is nothing I recognise - I assume it is an item from the inbuilt sounds library. Might I at least change it for another more gentle sound? Since this sound is not on any playlist, and is played at max volume, I think the problem noted by Miniwaites and myself is different from that described by Erland, who commented: I've suspected it starts to play the current playlist with the last used volume when the device is turned on before the alarm handling kicks in and changes the playlist and lowers the volume. ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Could it be that it plays this music as it can't access the correct playlist while the computer wakes up (this only takes a second or 2)? Even if that is the case why is it so loud? And where has that music comes from? Plugins run on the server. 'Applets' (which are new and rare for now) run on the Radio.
