Nobody said the opposite as well.

Each of them (SBRadio and SBTouch) have the ability to address an UNC
or an URL from which to take the pictures image viewer shows.

I'm just asking which should be the path to address touch pictures from
radio

I tryed

//192.168.1.9/media/sda1/Foto

where 192.168.1.9 is the touch's address, but it doesn't work

[SlimDevices: Radio] A simple question

2010-09-26 Thread Rikk

sorry if already asked, but digged in the forum without any success,
so:
spent an entire week end trying to start a slideshow on SBRadio with my
pictures located on an external usb disk connected to the SBTouch
running as a server.

So my configuration is:
SBTouch running SB Tiny server
external WD drive connected to the Touch's usb
SBRadio connected to the server

what path should I specify to the Image Visualizer of SBRadio ?

[SlimDevices: Radio] Fallback alarm and SBR off after firmware update to 7.5

2010-04-08 Thread Rikk

Hi everybody. This morning the radio failed to play the channel set for
the alarm and played the fallback alarm instead. After this, it asked
me to update to the new firmware version 7.5! This sounds quite
strange.
After the update it isnt able anymore to connect to mySB!
Tryed to reset to factory settings with no success, as I rember it came
with version 7.4.3 and now, after the reset the fw version is still
7.5.
Then I had to go to work, so I unplugged it! Damn!
Note: I did all this while listening to the music from my SB3!
I'm getting quite tired of these constant problems...

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] How good is the radio as an alarm clock

2010-04-01 Thread Rikk

I use the Radio as my primary alarm clock, even if I have a backup that
is my 11 months old son.
My configuration is without a local server, my SB3 and Radio are always
wirelessly connected to internet.
I cant remember it failed to ring, but very often it fails to have a
reliable connection with mysqueezebox.com , due to the server, not to
my configuration (I checked that many times). So it frequently happens
that the Radio plays the song on its internal memory, that is at a
volume definitely too high, making me jumpm out of bed (I not already
due to my son).
So I classify its reliability to a fifty fifty. I would like at least
it could consider the volume I set for my alarms...

ok, got it.
now, unfortunately I've got no battery to test, but I would expect that
in this case you should have a state saying AC powered.

For bot wifi icon and battery the screen saver doesn't start at all.

For the alarm text, I tryed the hour minute combination you wrote but
it doesn't display anything.

Please find attached the schema I'm working on.

Also I found that backgroundtype is irrelevant. Regardless If you
choose black, white or any other color, he puts black.

I don't have the tools to adjust your background graphic, but I'd like
to see the upper box where the now-playing information is shown made a
bit smaller, so the middle elements could be moved up a bit, making the
bottom block for the Date a little larger. Other than that, I think
it's pretty nice.I experimented a little about the background color, and it

If we had this, I think it would be possible with some small
enhancements to the plugin to create a style similar to the link below
but with rotating wheels when the music is playing, and of course with
the current artist/album/track shown on the label on the cassette:

Hmm, I wonder if it's time to change thread soon, the current thread
title doesn't really describe what happens here.
With the wheel you mean the tape dragging wheel, right?
You said that the rotation is always screen centered, right? So the
cassette should be put in a way the wheel is in the center of the
screen, right?
Or you want to put both the wheels?

mmhh I tryed but with medium success As I put an icon in the schema
, it stops working. And from the alarm object I cant get the time. A
simple configuration with time, album title, song title and artist
works.
Ah, most important: never saw the album art.

About icons I have one question: to develop faster I put always the
same icon for all states (for example in wi fi strenght). May this cause
the screen saver not to work?

When I say that the configuration doesn't work I meaan that the radio
stops starting screen saver, or that the screen saver cannot be loaded.

Anyway, apart these little flaws, you did a great job. In this way
screen savers are highly configurable. Really cool!

Ok, so I suggest a different approach: if you could email me a schema

One more thing: this morning I tryed to configure custom clock to

Another thing I'd like to ear is how many recharging cycles can stand

This could convince me to buy it.

well, for sure it would be nice to be able to put the cover wherever I
want, adjustable in size, obviously.
Then, the more infos available (alarm, wifi strength, battery, shuffle
on/off, repeat on/off, song number, number of songs, ...), the better.
The rotating thing is also interesting, better if with a definable
center of rotation and radius.
Another easy: more than one line for album, artist, song title. Better
if 3.
If you can, of a given length and scrollable if text is longer.
I think it's enough! :)
Mainly think to the example I posted after the LSD one.

Another thing quite annoying: since when you install a new firmware you
have to reinstall applets you had, when you put on the new firmware,
before you reinstall applets, it seems the device can't go in stand-by.
If you press power off button it just stays still on the main menĂ¹.

[SlimDevices: Radio] How to manually update SB Radio firmware to a beta version

2010-02-04 Thread Rikk

I searched extensively through the forum but couldn't find such a
thread, so I decided to put it here in clear letters.
Now if please someone could complete it with explanations... :)

I know this: you can find all firmware versions available in this site:

http://update.slimdevices.com/update/firmware

but actually for each device (e.g. version 7.5 for baby) you find 4
files:

baby.version
baby.version.sha
baby_7.5.0_r8445.bin
baby_7.5.0_r8445.bin.sha

wich one do I need? Or all of them?

I know I have to put the needed in the firmware folder of the server.

And then?

thanks guys! :)

And when I turn the brightness up to read the menus, the clock is too
 bright for me to sleep.

So, an elegant option for 7.5.0 would be to turn the brightness up for
an additional 30% when operating the unit. And if not, falling back for
the minimum brightness after a certain amout of time.

I see. So does that mean the Radio as delivered is in fact inoperable
until it can connect to MySB at least once (either directly or through a
 local server)?

Still, it would be perfectly possible to use many of the MySB functions
without an account. Favorites and alarm times could be saved locally
(which would even avoid a lot of problems), and why would you need an
account only to download a firmware update or to look up an internet
radio station? It is just an additional obstacle for the customer. Our
local Saturn store has a Radio on display for about two months now which
is still sitting at the Create an account prompt, while the cheaper
devices on the next shelf are already playing music. If even the sales
personnel cannot be bothered to enter an e-mail address, why should the
customer find this easy to use? I am sure they could have sold a couple
of units more if you could simply use the radio out of the box, without
 jumping through hoops.

Sadly and surprisingly I counldn't do that because I found that the

So my question is: if at home I had no internet connection and wanted
to set up a SBRadio connected to a SBServer on a pc, howe should I do
that?
Is it really not possibile ?
Seem to be a big limit...
