When I'm on vacation or simply out and about, it gives me access to
virtually my entire library. The only negative is that the sound quality
is not nearly as good as I get with my locally stored, lossless files.
That being said, you can't be it for convenience. :)

Out of curiosity, were there enough of them made to fill all the

a couple of days ago. Clearly, this puts me pretty far down the queue.

[SlimDevices: Radio] A question about the battery pack ...

2009-10-04 Thread gweempose

I'm considering purchasing the optional battery pack when it becomes
available. I probably won't use it very often, as the radio will be
sitting on a night stand in my guest bedroom most of the time. It would
be nice, however, to take the radio out to the backyard ever once in a
while. I'm wondering if it is bad for the battery to have it
continuously connected to the radio even if it isn't being used for long
periods of time.

Looks like I messed up. After I canceled my Amazon order, I placed the
order from the main Logitech site as opposed to the Squeezebox site
(it's very confusing that two completely separate e-stores exist).
Unlike many of you, things haven't gone nearly as smoothly for me.
Instead of having my shipping upgraded, my order is still in limbo and
listed as "Order in Process". The irony is that by the time it finally
gets to me via ground shipping, I probably would have actually gotten it
sooner if I had just stuck with Amazon. :(

extremely sensitive to light while they're sleeping. Others, myself

As far as addressing your question about which room my players are in,
I currently have a Boom in the master bedroom on my nightstand. The
other players are in my family room, game room and home theater. The
Radio (which should arrive today :)) will be going in the guest bedroom.
Assuming I like the Radio as much as I think I will, I'll probably buy a
second one for my kitchen. This would be another scenario where
adjustable dimming would come in handy. There would be no reason to dim
it all the way down in the kitchen, and yet it would be nice to dim it
somewhat at night to conserve energy.

[SlimDevices: Radio] How do I get the Radio to connect to mysb.com?

2009-10-12 Thread gweempose

I just set up my Radio today and everything went smoothly. After
plugging it in and configuring my network settings, the Radio found my
local Squeezebox Server and connected to it. I tested it with both local
music and with internet based sources such as Rhapsody, and everything
worked flawlessly.

Next, I turned off my server to see what would happen. I assumed if no
server was found, the Radio would automatically ask me for my mysb.com
login information and connect to it. Unfortunately, this was not the
case. No matter what I did, it kept trying to connect to my local
server. I even tried rebooting the Radio, but I still kept getting the
same message, "Can't Connect to Library". The only options it gave me
were "Try again" and "Switch Library". Obviously, there is something I'm
missing. Anyone have any suggestions?

[SlimDevices: Radio] For those of you thinking about returning your Radio ...

2009-10-13 Thread gweempose

My suggestion is to be patient. Yes, the Radio is quite buggy at the
moment. There is no denying it. Nevertheless, I have faith that Logitech
will eventually fix all these issues. I remember when the controller
first came out. That thing was riddled with bugs. There were times when
I wanted to throw it as hard as I could at a brick wall. Fast forward to
the present, and the controller has evolved into a pretty rock solid
piece of hardware. I am confident that the same thing will ultimately
happen with the Radio.

before it was ready. That being said, I don't necessarily agree that we
should boycott the product. Slim Devices has a great track record when
it comes to supporting their products and going out of their way to make
their customers happy. For proof, look no further than these forums. I
can't think of many other companies that interact with their customers
in such a positive way. Heck, even the founder of the company posts here
on a regular basis.

Fortunately, in the days of internet connected devices, it's very easy
for them to give us firmware updates and fix the bugs. I have been happy
with every Squeezebox product I have ever purchased. That's why I was
one of the first ones in line to get the new Radio. Do I wish it worked
perfectly right out of the gate? Of course, but based on past
experience, I'm not worried. That's why I started this thread. I wanted
to let people who were new to the whole Squeezebox experience know that
the kinks will be ironed out in time.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Radio in the bathroom?

2009-10-18 Thread gweempose

I think it depends on how humid it gets in the room. Obviously, moisture
can be bad for electronics if they aren't specifically designed to be in
that type of harsh environment. I assume you have an exhaust fan in the
bathroom. If it's fairly effective, you should be alright as long as you
remember to turn it on every time you take a shower.

[SlimDevices: Radio] Is there any solution to the disappearing preset bug?

2010-07-07 Thread gweempose

I recently got my wife a Radio to use in the bathroom. To make it easier
for her, I set the presets to her favorite Sirius channels and one local
channel. This morning, my wife came downstairs and wanted to know where
all her presets went. A quick search of this forum revealed that this
is a known issue that is affecting many users. Has anyone come up with
a solution? For the record, I am using the latest 7.5.2 nightly build
of Squeezebox Server.

A friend of mine was over at my house the other day and really liked my

when using it exclusively with mysqueezebox.com. Have they worked out
all the kinks, or are there still issues? I would hate to recommend a
product to my friend that will only end up being infuriating.

I recently purchased a new SB Radio, so I decided to move the battery
from one of my older Radios to the new one. Upon doing so, I discovered
that the older Radio will not power up without the battery in it. It is
dead as a door nail ... absolutely nada. I'm worried that the battery
being in there for so long may have somehow have caused this. Is there
any reason why I shouldn't use this battery in the new Radio? Also, is
there anything I can do to fix the older Radio?

[SlimDevices: Radio] Apps dissapear after connecting to MSB.com ...

2014-11-18 Thread gweempose

I recently purchased a used red SB Radio, and it is acting very strange.
When I first turned it on, it indicated that the Radio was registered to
a different MSB.com account. I changed it to my account, and everything
appeared to to be working. I run LMS 7.8.1 on my local network, and the
new Radio easily connected to it. Now here is where it got weird. When I
went to try out Rhapsody, the Radio automatically disconnected from LMS
and connected to MSB.com. When I switched back to LMS, all of my apps
were gone, and even the "My Apps" folder is gone. The only way I have
figured out to get them to return is to reboot the Radio. This only
temporarily fixes the problem, though, and they once again disappear
when the unit connects to MSB.com.

I'm very confused. None of my other Radios exhibit this behavior. Once
they are connected to LMS, they never connect to MSB.com unless I tell
them to. All of the information about my apps and accounts is relayed to
them via LMS. Is there something I am missing? Why is the new Radio
acting differently than my other Radios?

Is there anything else I need to do other than entering my MSB.com
information during setup? I assumed this would register it on my account
and remove it from the other account. I tried a factory reset, and that
didn't seem to help. I also tried restarting LMS to no avail. This is
very frustrating. i don't understand why it is forcing a MSB.com
connection whenever I use apps such as Rhapsody or Pandora. None of my
other Radios do this. I've been running LMS 24/7 on my network for
years.

Okay, so here's an update. For the time being, the "My Apps" folder has
reappeared on the home screen. I seem to be able to access my apps
through it without it going to MSB.com. I cannot, however, create
shortcust to the apps on the home screen. On my other Radios, I simply
highlight the app and then press the "+" key. This would then bring up a
menu allowing me to add the app to the home screen. When I press the "+"
button on this new Radio, it does nothing. I even tried installing some
new apps and then having it create the shortcut for me. The shortcuts
are nowhere to be found. Very strange.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Grace digital

2015-11-05 Thread gweempose

I just purchased a Mondo to replace a Boom in my bathroom. My wife likes
to listen to Howard Stern, so it was all about her being able to easily
stream SiriusXM while she gets ready in the morning. In my opinion, the
Mondo is inferior to the Radio in almost every way. It's larger, uglier,
doesn't sound as good, and just seems to have inferior build quality. It
also can't be controlled from a phone or computer, and you can't
customize the home screen. I kind of hate it. That being said, you plug
it in, set it up, and it just plain works. As long as they continue to
support it, the Mondo is certainly a viable option for someone looking
for a reasonably priced, all-in-one solution for streaming SiriusXM.
