This is the point we are making. We have been told that the Radio Battery ships with a slightly different remote, that looks the same on the outside, but has different internals. Now if that was me, i would change the part number. Don't get me wrong, i think these Slim / Logitech players are fantastic, and they have changed the way that i listen to music. This is just a guess, but... Thanks for the links. But I tried my "new" remote and a couple of Boom remotes, and they all behave the same. I also opened them up, and they ALL have the same part number. If they are supposed to be shipping an upgraded remote, then someone at Logitech has goofed again. However the whole idea behind the original Slim design, was that all devices could be operated by other remotes in the product range. If they have changed the design, because the Radio can't use them, then this is a mistake IMO. If it ain't broke, then don't fix it. I have mine plugged in at one end of the bathroom, but it's not near the "throne" because there's not a plug there. I ordered the battery on Friday 27th Feb and it arrived this morning (2nd Mar). Still allowing it to fully charge first but to answer one posters question; the battery voltage is 14.36v. As many others have stated, I'm not sure I'll ever use the remote but we'll see. Mine arrived yesterday, it was very nicely packaged, I've never seen a blister pack with a tear off panel on the back before. Spotted it just before I reached for the knife to hack into it... The battery pack itself is much better put together than anything I'd have achieved myself, it has a a foam rubber wrap as well as shrink wrap, so that the ends are padded to stop it rattling. I charged it over night and today my Radio is finally portable. Here's hoping that Logitech split out the battery from the remote at some point, I don't really want to buy a new remote every two years. Though I guess with the Logitech pack I have a good starting point for just replacing the cells when they die and replacing the shrink wrap with gaffer tape. -- andynormancx Yes, it will. Has anyone actually received a shipping confirmation e-mail? I received the initial e-mail,but no CC charge yet, and no shipping info. I am always amused at how people value products. You have a high-end computer, costing thousands, a PS3 or Wii and many games, pay way to much for broadband service, and a complete cable tv packagebut wont spend an extra $10 because the remote costs too much. As an elder who grew up listening to static and fading shortwave radio, this technology is a "miracle" and I am thankful everyday for my listening options. I did think about building my own battery pack, but a quick search for tagged AA NiMh cells in the UK suggested I'd be paying £20+ just for the cells. It would take me at least a couple of hours to put it all together and test it and two hours of my time is worth at least £20 to me. I paid only ~£100 for the radio, so half of that again for a battery is a bit steep. Buying in store would ease the cost a little. I do not think Logitech would put out an important e-mail announcement like this to its loyal and faithful customers with that kind of errorthey are a big respected company and they would not be that careless. They do make very sophisticated computer programs and devices, so...they would be right on top of details like this. I am sure they hire competent individuals to write these notifications.
