Are you sure you´re connected to your local server 7.4.2. If you´re
connected to mysqueezebox.com it won´t work.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Rolling back firmware - howto

2010-05-18 Thread Nojelc

Well I am stuck with this damn 7.5, try as I may I cannot go back to
previous version.

My first attempt to fix the 7.5 problem was to reinstall 7.5 - big
mistake. I cannot go back with the rewind button and power on.

I have reinstalled server 7.4.2 but no way can I get my radio to prompt
me to install the 7.4 firmware, it just carries on working with 7.5.

Anything else I can try?

I cant believe it - my radio has upgraded itself to 7.5 without my

I turned the radio off last night, and when I turned it on this

then that I noticed the version had gone up.

I may do what diannabill did and revert back to 7.4.2 Server.

unfounded.

I personally have no confidence that we will ever have stable radios.
The whole architecture seems flawed, primarily because the operation of
these devices is dependent on a single website. When that website goes
offline (as it has done several times) every Squeezebox Radio becomes a
brick. How's that for design?!

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Rolling back firmware - howto

2010-05-13 Thread diannabill

I know this may be a bit of a pain, but if you aren't running SB Server,
past the link below in your browser and download the 7.4.2 version. If
you've already got SB Server running 7.5.0, uninstall SB Server before
doing this install.

http://downloads.slimdevices.com/SqueezeboxServer_v7.4.2/

Assuming you're running Windows, for example, select the Windows
Executable file.

This will load version 7.4.2 of the SB Server on your computer. Then
when you turn on your radio, it will eventually prompt you to download
and install Software version 7.4.2 on your radio. You may need to
attempt to connect to the server for it to prompt you.

Once you do that, you'll be all set. This worked like a charm for me.

Every now and then I get an upgrade screen on my radio telling me to
upgrade to 7.5.0, but I hit one of my preset buttons and it goes away.

Right. I think it simply tells the radio to use the previously
installed version of firmware which, as in your case, could very well
be the same one that you're running now.

Hopefully they'll have an updated firmware with the bugs worked out

It's been a few days since since I did the rollback now and not a

their act. Either way I guess I'll keep the SBR and not return it to
Best Buy, I hope I'm not sorry...

I do have another glitch though. Occasionally when I pushbutton it on
from the sleep mode it will back go back off (to sleep) after a few
seconds. After the second push it will stay on. I'm not going to try to
fix this one though as it's not that annoying.

Editorial comment: I would have a hard time recommending this radio to
someone else. This is the first time I have used a SB product and the
hassle to make it work IMO is unacceptable. The product appears to
still be in beta judging from my (and many others on this forum)
experience. I'll keep this SBR since it now seems to do what I want,
but in the future I'll likely avoid products of this brand.

happier with my Squeezebox.

The only new feature of the last update I liked was that the alarm came
directly out of the Squeezebox instead of the speakers I have plugged

But the connection issues and this weird Sleep timer thing where it
doesn't go back to clock mode after it's supposed to turn off are too
aggrivating to deal with.
