Great. But I don't follow the rest of your comment. So you can't get
SbS to start on your computer automatically on boot? Correct. But after
you boot your computer, you can start SbS and run it on your computer?
And when you are playing internet radio, you have your SB player
connected to the SbS running on your computer. Correct?

If this is what you are doing, yes, running your SB players through
your own SbS is typically more stable than running directly through
mysqueezebox.com. Although the latter works fine for me at my weekend
place.

2010-09-06 Thread garym

I see the problem. You're no longer connected with your mysqueezebox.com
credentials within SqueezeboxServer. Otherwise under internet radio
you'd have lots of things other than just enter url. Try this first:
turn off your router, your computer running SbS, and unplug your SB
players. Then turn on your router, let fully boot. Then turn on your
computer and let fully boot, including SbS starting up (so you can
browse the Web UI). Last, plug in your SB players and let them
find/connect to your SbS. Then refresh your web UI in SbS and you may
then see the other options.

If it still doesn't work at that point, open SbS > Settings >
mysqueezebox.com tab, then check your mysb.com credentials and make
sure it doesn't give you an error on that page. You can do that first
as well, but often if it gives you an error, you need to do my first
steps anyhow.

Okay maybe I'm an idiot, but I don't see any choice to search, only to
enter a URL. Here's a screenshot.

Try this from SBS, Open a web browser and start the SBS WebUI. From the
WebUI goto, Home>Internet Radio> Search> and type KXL hit enter. From
the Menu that comes up, highlight KXL and click on the PLAY symbol. It
should start streaming to the player you have selected.

That is all I did and it plays fine.

Yes, there should be many other menu items in there. You may not have
your MySB login entered into SBS on your computer.

It seems that this station is typical of most talk radio stations in
that it rebroadcasts nationally syndicated shows. If it is just the
various shows you're interested in, I'd recommend to just go into
"internet radio" > TALK > then choose a category (like Entertainment).
You'll likely see these same shows listed. Just select the show, then
it will show various options if more than one exists (with time
remaining on the show). Select one of the "time remaining" items, then
you'll see the name of a radio station. Then hit play, and you'll play
that station. If you find another station you like with the same
programing, you can always add this to your favorites.

Same here on SBS, News Radio 750 KXL at 32k, guessing it is AAC, plays
fine.
It does not show up on MySB > Remote Control, which is correct for AAC
streams (AAC is not offered via MySB > Internet Radio).

If you were getting KXL before via MySB they likely changed their
streaming format from MP3 or WMA to AAC.

Is it KBND 1110 News/Talk Radio for it says KXL Newsradio 750 KXL? If
yes, I am streaming it right now through SBS. When I put in KXL that is
what comes up and plays.

You wouldn't actually be running both at the same time, you want only
SBS running locally. Using SBS on a PC acts as the local server so no
MySB.com. MySB.com is the Logitech server that the players talk to if
you don't have an SBS PC/Server running at home. The MySB.com can't
support transcoding everybody's stream, it provides control features
and sends commands to the dumb devices. Have you downloaded the SBS
software to a PC on your Network or with an Internet connection?

If I do have the right station, it works fine running an SBS. So it
could very well be that they changed the stream to the Apple format.

it is 32kbps AAC it plays natively on my Touch (so it should do that on

But on my boom it's has to be transcoded to flac by my local server .
So it will not play on any old cpu (ip3k) player like SB3,2 boom

2010-09-05 Thread iPhone

Here is a question I have yet to see answered, are you using MySB.com or
are you using a local SBS PC/Server when this happens?

If you are using MySB.com, the radio station could have changed stream
formats to an Apple format that Squeezeboxes can't handle native. Even
if you have the correct URL or station, it is not going to stream
because of the format issue if one is on MySB.com. The current solution
is that SBS must be running and you are streaming the station through
the SBS which will transcode the Apple stream and send it to the
Squeezebox.

I'd suggest just giving the station info like name, call letters (if
any), where you found it on your Radio's menu's (RadioTime? ShoutCast?
Internet Radio > Search?, etc..)

The URL on your PC streaming may be different (likely is) than what the
URL is within the Radio's menu's, and this may be the problem itself.
;)

You could post the station details, others can try streaming it for
comparison.
There are so many possible reasons why the stream might not be working,
technical issue at source or the stream aggregator, format change,
...who knows.
You could email the station or the aggregator (ShoutCast, RadioTime,
