Re: Top Level Project Name

2011-11-15 Thread Christian Grobmeier
Apache Creadur is an excellent name, I loved it immediately. It has
reminded me a bit on the Harry Potter Character "Kreacher":

Guess, Apache Creadur could have an house elf logo too - at least it
is working for free and is very loyal!

Actually I think you made a good point. The status page of the
incubator podling should reflect a new item with "Are the ASF branding
requirements fulfilled" or something like that. I will bring that up
on the incubator list.

One of the best cared status files I daresay.

What is with this one:
"Make sure that the requested project name does not already exist and
check www.nameprotect.com to be sure that the name is not already
trademarked for an existing software product."

My assumption is this already has happened, there just no sign off at the item

Hm sounds good. Recently I wrote a small bash script together with
Simone Tripodi for checking release sigs and md5 hashes. We discussed
a few minutes if we could store it somewhere at the ASF but could not
find a place. Now everybody of us has its own copy. If there would be
a "release" top level project collecting rat and scripts like this, i
think it would be interesting. I guess there are many tools around
like this.

You don't think Commons would fit?

Just curious :-)

Custom license

2011-03-17 Thread Christian Grobmeier
Hello,

is RAT already able to check for a custom license?

The license of my customer is a text block in at java doc class level
(first lines).

I would love to use RAT for this - is it supported?

Also @since tags are necessary. Is it better to use checkstyle for this?

Cheers,
Christian
