[RBW] Re: An un-obstructive front handle bar bag for boscos?

2016-11-26 Thread Nick Payne
I just carry lightweight plus valuable stuff in the handlebar bag -
raincoat, camera, wallet, passport, etc, and take it with me at cafe or
food buying stops. Heavy stuff goes in the front lowrider panniers. Here's
my touring bike in Switzerland earlier this year. Ortlieb panniers and
handlebar bag, Carradice Camper Longflap saddlebag:

On day rides I generally just use a smaller Carradice Pendle saddlebag and
don't use a handlebar bag.

Both those attachment systems would probably work as they cinch close to
the stem. I have to think about how I want to carry weight on the

invest in low rider type rack and use a lightweight style handle bar bag.

[RBW] Re: Poor man's Rivendell Road/Roadeo substitute?

2016-11-26 Thread Bill in Roswell GA
Patrick, after all these years I understand you going through bikes more
often than I go through pairs of socks. But I do think you should post a
price range you have in mind.

To wit, there is a young man at work from Grand Junction with a 1978 Miyata
(I remember a Prestige decal, but didn't see if it was #1 or #2) with darn
good original paint. He paid a whopping $75 it and rides it every day (he
did replace chain, cables and brake pads-all parts that don't wear are
original). Just giving you a "for instance".

Here is something you can while away those cold, windy
nights: http://www.searchtempest.com/

It compiles classified ads including CL and eBay, and is pretty darn fun to
play with since. There are still some great garage sale finds out there to
had! Particularly in college towns.

Teaser: search eBay for this Buy Now: Eddy Merckx Corsa Extra

I look forward to seeing what you find!

Also, Alex Cycle in Japan has a variety of handlebar bags in various sizes

[RBW] Re: An un-obstructive front handle bar bag for boscos?

2016-11-26 Thread Jim M.
If it's that small of a load, how about something like *this*
.

It sits on the top tube instead of the handlebars.

Forgot to add, make sure you watch the video as it shows how the bag attaches.
It is secured so it won't swing...

Annie, this one might be perfect! There are more colors on the website, too! I
will just post this one because I think it would match your Clementine blue:

Annie, how about the Riv bar tube bag? I'm pleased with mine. Good capacity
considering its size.

2016-11-26 Thread anniebikes
I used to own front handle bar bag with that kind of bracket. They worked
well, but I'm looking for something that doesn't require a bracket or a
rack. I'm concerned with weight on this bike as it's heavier than I
expected plus I know I will add a front rack eventually for panniers. I
love all your suggestions though.I will probably get creative and fashion
something. I'm also not looking for something large, but enough to carry
passport, camera, phone, just necessary (ID and money too) - items in a
removable pouch.
