It has the Harris Cyclery sticker, also a Bunyan Velo sticker on the TT. Sounds
like the same one! It’s basically done, will post pics tomorrow.

[RBW] PSA 56 Atlantis Portland Oregon

2018-06-01 Thread nathaniel nichols
Yeah, let us know. I got to the cl add too late but I'm curious if it's my old
Atlantis I sold on this list to someone in Portland. I remember about a year
after I sold it, it was listed on cl Portland, it was a 56.

Twas Toyo built and was from a batch that was sold at Harris Cyclery, sometime
in the 2000s, paint was pretty rough when I sold it, but man, I had a lot of
good times on that bike

I have a 58cm and a 60cm Betty Foy so I went a looked at an older set of
tires and I am pretty sure that this is where the confusion is.
Here is another tire with similar labeling.
https://smile.amazon.com/Continental-Tour-Ride-ETRTO-42-584/dp/B0035Y3HP8?sa-no-redirect=1
I was assured I was buying a 58cm betty with 700c it didn't but I did get a
58cm.

[RBW] Re: Hubbabubba Frame For Sale

2018-06-01 Thread Benz, Sunnyvale, CA
Actually, come to think of it, except for the rear right side crank (the
one with the triple chainring), none of the crank arms can be used on a
"single" bike – the left side cranks obviously have chainrings that is not
applicable on a "single" bike, and the captain's right side crank cannot be
reused on a single's left side as the pedal thread is reversed. Thus, you
may want to consider selling frame, BBs, headset, seatposts, at least the
rear wheel, and the entire crank set.

Hey Bill, the issue is the rear takes a 145mm width rear wheel and almost
all Rivendells are 135mm so it wouldn't be a direct replacement on your

Always measured center BB to top of seat lug. It came is 47(26"), 52(650),
58(650), and 62(700).

Re: [RBW] Re: ird power ratchet shifters keep loosening

Installing a new plastic piece helped slightly, but not enough. Additional
washers on either side also didn't help. Inspecting the lever further it
seems the internal ratcheting mechanism is completely worn. The shifter
used to be on the right side when I had Choco bars, so it did higher use.

I've swapped the shifter out for now. Anyone know if you can get
replacement levers, or just a left?

thanks for the help.

Re: [RBW] Re: Model redundancy: Why not offer only canti/V brakes on all models? Why not offer a 650b on every model?

2018-06-01 Thread Ana Candela
Could be that choice of brake pads may improve (or not) your braking power, at
least in my experience. My side-pull brakes work great here in hilly rainy
Seattle. That said, lately I’m having not-so-great results with salmon pads in
dry weather. They were recommended for wet conditions over black pads, which
were grinding my rims away. I will probably go back to black ones...

[RBW] Re: New geometry charts available

2018-06-01 Thread Bob Lovejoy
I am pretty sure this is exactly what Garth posted, but I did stumble upon
this page today...

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gfiN1kOxVrthdc6eScUF9fP5n-BvRBILbBMYiEg5LM4/edit#gid=0

The older 56cm Sam with the 59cm tt always jumped out at me. There may be
other models that have changed over the years as well.

But, for posterity and reference, I wanted to get it into the thread.
Apologies if it has already been mentioned or posted.
