[RBW] FS: More Nitto! Stems and seatposts

2018-08-05 Thread Thomas Lynn Skean
Dreams must give way to time. Or to age. Or to energy.

Or they can become someone else’s dream!

all prices include shipping to contiguous 48

seatposts

S83 - definitely aluminum two-bolt; has clearly been used but is fully
functional - $55
https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B11G9Gd2NGirscV

S65 - shorter, interestingly labeled single bolt; also used but fully
functional - $45
https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B11J5HumnGz2gO5

stems - all slightly used and quite useful; parenthetical numbers are
compatible clamp diameter

Tallux 10cm - $40 (for 25.4mm bar)
https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B115cLqfNofU16

Dirt Drop 100 - $40 (for 26.0mm bar) (have 3 of these)
#1 - https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B11GLLXGLGbJQZa
#2 - https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B11GDZLe8GS4a8H
#3 - https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B11GqQrCLGHV77N

Dirt Drop-ish 80 -$35 (for 25.4mm bar)
https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B11GsCn7GGJdjV1

I can’t remember whether the 80 was actually called a Dirt Drop or was just
sort of like one. It’s Nitto!

Please reply-to-author to reserve one of these delightfuls. Paypal only. If
shipping to Alaska or Hawaii ask for a quote.

Yours,
Thomas Lynn Skean

[RBW] Re: Rivs with the Jones Loop/Bend H-Bar (Map/Ahearne too)

2018-08-05 Thread Jonathan D.
I was wondering if anyone else had any experience with the Jones bars on a
Rivendell. I was considering building a Sam with the Jones bars (SG 2.5) or
putting them on a BMC Monstercross. I would love hear impressions. Also I would
be interested in purchasing a used pair if someone has one.

[RBW] Re: Billie Bars?

2018-08-05 Thread scott minor
I went from albatross to billies on my 60cm chev and now that I’ve ridden it
for a couple months (road/path) have to say I prefer the roominess of the
billies, and also the more angled hand position when back on the grips. The
billies put your hand/wrist less thumb-forward than the albas which works well
for my and my fussy AC joints. I also changed the stem from 11cm w albatross
to 12cm w billies. I do love albatross bars though, been riding them for more
than a decade and will keep that cockpit for another bike someday. I also went
from bar-ends on the albas to stem shifters w the billies. A local hunq rider
friend likened the stem shifter setup to pre-ripped jeans, haha! too funny. i
get it but the cleaner bars and ‘easy enough’ stem-shifting is working for me
on this bike. But mostly, being 6’4” (95 pbh) on a 60 chev, I’m enjoying the
extra room of the billies!

[RBW] Tubus Racks for sale

2018-08-05 Thread Steve Butcher

As my touring goals have changed, I'm offering sale the following: Tubus
Tara low rider front rack with mounting bolts and spacers and Tubus Cargo
Evo rear rack with B battery powered rear light. I purchased the racks
from list members, mounted them on my bike, fitted then removed panniers,
and have not used them for any touring. The racks are in excellent,
undamaged condition and have a few minor scuffs related to mounting and
pannier fitting. They have always been stored indoors. An on-line
supplier of Tubus racks lists a pair like this for approximately $210.00
plus shipping. The B rear rack light lists for $45.00 from RBW. I want
to sell the entire package for $160.00 plus shipping CONUS. Paypal is
preferred payment mode. Please PM me off list with questions. I have also
listed this on i-BOB. Thanks for looking.

[RBW] Re: Oh the humidity!

2018-08-05 Thread Julian Westerhout
Patrick,

Having just gotten back from a 30 mile ride with temps in the upper 80s and
humidity in the lowers 80s here in central IL, I'd say you're gloating.
:)

Julian "grew up in the Washington, DC, area and spent 10 years in Durango,
CO, so I know humid and I know dry" Westerhout

p.s.: I miss Durango summer nights, when throwing the windows open and
running a box fan after a 90 degree day meant you needed a blanket an hour
after dark.

Dude, 20%?!?! Please!
You need to come over here into Maryand and ride out here in the real humidity,
under the burning sun which will rip the hide off you.
Walk outside.
Does it feel like you are breathing soup?
Then you ain’t got no humidity!

I've been riding the newly washed and lubed (Molten Speed Wax!) 2003 Curt
after neglecting it for a while. We're about 1/3- to 1/2-way through our
fitful monsoon season (days of blazing sun interspersed with violent, 1/2
hour downpours with hail), and the humidity has soared into the mid- to
upper 20% range.

I got back from liturgy an hour ago: 95*F, 26% or 29% depending on the
website. Man! I don't understand how your back-easterners deal with it -- I
do recall how, living in Washington, DC -- miserable swamp in many more
ways than 1 -- how refreshing it felt in the late afternoon after the
humidity dropped to 30% from 85%+ in the morning.

I can attest that 100*F+ at 5% is very rideable weather, as long as you
drink enough. Boost that humidity to 15%, and it's a very different story.
Swamp coolers, very popular here, work poorly above 15% or 20%. I smugly
have refrigerated air.

Does anybody know when the Wavie Bars will be a realty? They could work too.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

[RBW] Re: Billie Bars?

2018-08-05 Thread Justin, Oakland
I would also consider a sweep bar like the Jones (loop or no loop), MapAhearne
or upcoming Wavvie (gravy?) bar. I find that my experience with the angle of
Albatross grips is not conducive to the control I want when doing anything but
upright cruising. This might not be your experience but is worth considering.

[RBW] Re: Billie Bars?

2018-08-05 Thread Lester Lammers
If you think Albas would work on the Trek ,IMHO, Billie's are an
improvement. I have them on a MIT Atlantis and like them a lot. You do get
two good hand positions and possibly three. If they don't work on the Trek
put them on your Joe. You may need a longer stem with them on the JA. My 2
cents.

[RBW] Re: Going out on the GAP Sunday and Monday

2018-08-05 Thread Belopsky
Very nice, it's a nice ride. I did this ride with my friends a few summers
ago. We parked in this lot here in West Newtown, stayed in those houses in
the background, and headed towards Cumberland. We had a shop in Cumberland
drive us back.

[RBW] Going out on the GAP Sunday and Monday

2018-08-05 Thread ascpgh
I have to log my vacation choices more than a year ahead of time and this
week was one of my picks, it just didn't mesh well with my wife's work, so
I'm taking a solo jaunt south on the GAP to Cumberland.

I will be on the trail at the South Side by about 9:15. Lunch in West
Newton, overnight in Ohiopyle. Monday I'll ride to Cumberland, MD in time
to ride Amtrak back to Pittsburgh. I'll clip on my lights and ride home
from the station around midnight.

Seemed like a lot of fun, Just have to finish my breakfast and coffee,
print my reservations and head out. I'm on my orange Rambouillet, wave if
your out there. Hopefully some good pictures to follow.
