[RBW] Re: FS A. Homer Hilsen 57cm (Toyo)

2020-12-28 Thread Eric G@rs
Bump. Had a few bites from Craigslist, but not sold yet. Feel free to make
me an offer if interested.

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/bik/d/menlo-park-rivendell-homer-hilsen-toyo/7253051293.html

For sale is my 57 Rivendell A. Homer Hilsen handmade by Toyo in Japan in
~2008. I recently had it powder coated low-gloss black for durability after
the decals on the original paint job peeled. Different paint job, same
great steel frame. I have included a before picture. I then re-built the
bike with the following parts:

Velocity Dyad rims (700c) laced to Deore LX hubs
Panaracer GravelKing 38 slicks
Shimano Deore XT M771 SGS derailleur
New Albion double crank set with guard
Shimano UN-55 bottom bracket
Shimano Dura-Ace bar end shifters (index or friction) mounted on IRD stem
mount
Tektro R559 brakes
FSA 1” threaded headset
Shimano Tiagra brake levers
Nitto DirtDrop stem with 8mm extension

Currently there is no front derailleur installed as I prefer a de facto 1x
with option for a bail out gear if necessary, but I would be happy to
install or provide a front derailleur if desired. Feel free to reach out
with any questions. Price is 1600$ or best offer. Pedals not included, but
I can throw in the saddle if necessary.

Thanks Dave and James. That pre-fab kickstand plate looks like the ticket.

Re: [RBW] Chainstay dimples and kickstand kisses

Maybe too late but Surly makes a specific CNC'ed plate set to prevent this
from happening.

https://surlybikes.com/parts/kickstand_plate

Probably slap those on there if you're going to reinstall the stand.

2020-12-28 Thread Jan O.
Grant mentioned the B68 in the last BLAHG:

*"We are hoping Brooks will bring back the B.68. A couple of BLAHGs ago I
tried to get every single one of you to write to them (and included a link
to do that). I don't know how that worked out, whether or not they WILL,
but if they do, we'll have that. In case you missed the opportunity to
plead with Brooks to bring back this saddle (wider than B.17, kind of like
a B.67 without the unnecessary springs), here's your chance again

Don't tell them Rivendell put you up to it. Just tell them this would make
you happy".*

2020-12-28 Thread LeRoy
Thanks to all those who inquired. Both the Saddle and Multi-tool are on the
way to new homes.

As an aside, it does seem that Brooks may have discontinued the B68 a bit
prematurely, given the increasing popularity of bicycles designed for a
more upright riding position.

This is why everyone is different. Am enjoying the stock Clem saddle. Now,
