Re: [RBW] Re: Electric bicycles (Was: Copenhagen wheel)

2021-01-17 Thread masmojo
I have the Radpower - Rad Wagon

They're only $1,700 base price. Probably a couple hundred more with any
accessories you may want. If you don't need a Cargo bike specifically you
could go cheaper maybe??
mine is 3rd Gen; they have a new 4th Gen with smaller (but wider) wheels.
https://www.radpowerbikes.com/products/radwagon-electric-cargo-bike

Mine: https://photos.app.goo.gl/EMbugYY5s8y9W3KV7

Blurry picture with a Ridgid bin on the back for
groceries: https://photos.app.goo.gl/bThEbwVsT28h4sJRA

There still are kits out there; I've seen one on Ebay that actually is a
motor that attaches slightly forward of the bottom bracket and powers the
bike there rather than the wheel; I've heard they are good, but I don't
know??
I think if I was going to convert a bike ; that's the way I'd go.

I am actually a proponent of just getting an actual bike; there are SO many
differences other that one having a motor and the other not. Beefier rims
and tires, integrated everything, Lever activated brake lights, more
power!!!
Grant mentioned in his Blahg about some rims they found that are actually
E-bike rims; that concerns me a little because E-bike rims are not known
for being light. in fact they are generally quite heavy
I had a hard time finding pics of my Ebike generally because to me it's
something I don't think to take pictures of, it's a tool that just happens
to also be a bike!
I won't say that it's not attractive in it's own way, but I don't think
about it much.

Re: [RBW] FS: Dynamo Light, SimWorks Bars, Teravail Tires

2021-01-17 Thread Collin A
Alrighty, the bars were quite popular, but went to the local buyer (who was
also first dibs).

Rest of the bits are still up for grabs:

B IQ-XS, silver, 65cm cable, rear light connectors installed. It's been
on a bike for about a year, but only about 50 miles on it, if that. I have
the rear light cord, shorty mount, and the front reflector as well if
desired. *$90 shipped*

Teravail Cannonball 650x40 light and supple, tan. About 300-400 miles. A
good Country-Bike tire for a new Sam or AHH. Cannonball | Teravail
 *$50 shipped*

IRD Scramjet BB for Shimano Hollowtech II cranks. Spins smoothly. This one: IRD
ScramJet Bottom Bracket Cups w/bearings | Soma Fab Shop

. *$30 Shipped*

Cheers,
Collin in Sacramento

bought them second-hand) and the 27.5" have 1mile ride (test-fit)

While they certainly ride differently than my 650B 52cm Clem L and my 700c

handlebars can contribute to how we respond to a bicycle, I love getting
 up
out of the saddle on my Clem and grabbing tight to the Hunt-Wilde finger

though I'm hesitant to spend that money on a new bike for all the reasons
 people have said.

Really appreciate all the comments and advice. I've learned a ton from
this forum over the last couple years.

DougP, yes, I am with you on donating bikes and parts. Rochester has
a great non-profit called R Community Bikes that repairs old bikes and
gives them away to people who need them. I have given them a few.

Good morning, Bones,

Just sent a PM.

Is anyone able to tell me what the PBH range is for this 62cm frame? I've
hunted around online and can't turn anything up.

Thanks all!

[RBW] Single wall rim durability

2021-01-17 Thread Tom Palmer
Hi all,
I am finally getting around to working on Patrick Moores' 03 Curt custom. I
like the wide look of the ubiquitous 26" silver MTB rims from the late 80's
and early 90's. The wheels in question came on an MB-3 and are 130mm
spaced, which is what I need for the Riv. The intended use is light touring
and commuting on 26x1.35 Kojaks. The wheels are 36 spoke and seem pretty
solid. The rims do have reinforcement along where the braking surface and
rim bed meet. I will retension and true just for confidence sake. any real
concern for durability?
Thanks,
Tom Palmer

2021-01-17 Thread Den John
Thanks, Tom. Planet Bike looks like a great initiative. TBH if I can't find
the SKS in the right size, I'll probably cough up for some 650B Gilles
Berthoud inox fenders.
I have a 26" set and they are very nice and also very effective.

Cheers,
Johnny

Hi Johnny,
Not SKS and not sure available in Belgium, but the Planet Bike Alux have a
wide fender in 650B. I used them over 584x54 Thunderburts. I like them
very much. Solid and quiet.
Hope you find a solution.
