[RBW] FS: Susie 53cm Orange Medium Frameset In Connecticut

2021-07-20 Thread Charlie R
Frameset as received from Rivendell, never built or had any components
mounted. My increasing age and my decreasing ability to ride is making
me reconsider my need for this bike. I am currently in the process of
building a small 26 inch Clem L. which will hopefully satisfy my future
needs.

I purchased the bike at the pre sale price of $1687 including shipping. I
will sell for that amount. Current price is $1800 plus shipping when they
become available at the end of this year or possibly next year.

No shipping - pickup in north central Connecticut only.

mine creaked as well until I greased the bolts and the bar clamp interface.
when it first started, i dripped a tiny bit of tri-flo under the bar/stem
interface and that stopped it immediately. Then when i had time, I took it
all apart and greased as above and the creak has not come back.

The Trans-Am is on all B-C roads, the latter of which can degrade to "might
as well be dirt" in some jurisdictions depending on their tax base and
count judge. Found many of them in our poking around, more in Kansas than
you believe (before all of the gravel racing interest). I'm a confirmed

[RBW] Re: FS: Nitto 34f front rack

2021-07-20 Thread Adam
Does anyone have experience mounting this on a bike with disc brakes? (Bb7)

Looking at the images, it's hard to tell if the section that angles out
from the dropout towards the mid-fork will hit the brake adjustment knob or
not. Definitely close.

I'd buy this if I thought it could be swapped between my Hillborne and my
disc bike.

OP, if you want to try to sort this out with some measurements, let me know.

Thanks

Re: [RBW] Re: WTB: 61cm Toyo Atlantis

2021-07-20 Thread Matthew P
I sold a near-pristine 56 cm Waterford Atlantis because it was too small,
but I didn't sell it until after I got a 58 cm Toyo to replace it.
Grant said Toyo is 87 points and Waterford is 100, or something like that.
I like the Toyo's curved chainstays. They're at least an additional 13
points to me :)
Almost done with the Toyo build. I better try that longer spindle soon; the
last piece of the puzzle.

edge--I love it. And, metal fenders! i wasn't going to fender mine, but
changed my mind. I got SKS, but those metal ones you have are so much
nicer looking. A very classy look!

I LOVE my AHHilsen, but end up pulling my Platy for more rides. I
think it's the feeling of freedom of the mixte design. Your other bike is
a Clem L, right, so you already know the joys of not worrying when you

 Many happy miles to you!

How wonderful! Congrats on your first RivBike - and what a great one to be
your first! You will adore this Platypus.

[RBW] Re: Platypus New Bike Day

2021-07-20 Thread Bicycle Belle Ding Ding!
Oh, it’s wonderful! Kate, I can’t believe how many similarities I noted
that we have in that photo. Mirrored sunnies, Keen sandals and a Rivendell
Platypus is pretty much my identity anymore! And both of us nurses - well,
too cool. I love your enthusiasm for the bike and the story of how you’ve
had lesser bikes over the last 30 years. This bike will ruin you for all
the rest. There just isn’t a replacement for the Rivendell experience. So
happy for you!

#RivSisters,
Leah

I LOVE my AHHilsen, but end up pulling my Platy for more rides. I
think it's the feeling of freedom of the mixte design. Your other bike is

Your Platy looks FAB I think step thrus are PERFECT city bikes. On my
AHH, I always have to be careful at a light, but on my Platy, I don't need
to think about it. It makes the ride more freeing. I hope you're LOVING
the ride. Welcome to the club!

[RBW] Re: Platypus New Bike Day

2021-07-20 Thread Roberta
It looks WONDERFUL. And, who need a gym membership when you have a Platy
to lift!

The Riv ride is like no other. The bike that the my Riv replaced was very
similar to the nice bike you (used to) ride that your Riv replaced. .
But, I bet you can tell the difference with a more upright ride. It's eye
opening, shoulder opening, chest opening, neck opening. After the love
you've given all those years, you deserve this extra love for yourself.
And, you got the best.

I wish you so many fantastic happy miles.

Congratulations!!! I hope it was worth the wait many time over for you. (I
know it is!).

2021-07-20 Thread Kushan
After a few weeks of obsessively checking, finally got a note from Will
that it's ready. Picked up my 60 cm Appaloosa arrived today. I took it for
a quick 10 mile spin on local paved trail and ride quality has exceeded
expectations. It is joyfully upright (Albatross bars), planted, and climbs
well. It makes me want to just keep pedaling and forget about things like
speed, heart rate, and strava.

Here are some pictures

P.S. It turns out that my frame pump, Zefal HPX4, is a tad too short for 60
cm Appa (although it fits fine on 61 Roadini). To my knowledge, HPX4 is the
largest size pump Zefal makes. If anyone has recommendations on larger
frame pump (or hacks on how to make HPX4 work), please let me know. It's a
bummer because I just got this one a few weeks ago.
