Re: [RBW] Anyone Tried RH Snoqualmie Pass on a Sam?

2023-07-10 Thread Brian Cunningham
Tim,

I’ve got the same era Sam but with the tektro r559 brakes. Tire clearance
is sufficient for those 44s, but when I’ve run them I haven’t been able to
get the tires to pass through the brake calipers fully inflated, so I’d
have to finish inflating after getting the tires in place. Not sure how
those brakes compare with Paul Racers in terms of the size of the opening.

Can’t speak to your tire clearance but I just put these tires on my gravel
bike (measured 43.75 for the extra light on 25mm ID rims) and they’re
fricken amazing. Feel fast on the road and capable of up to medium gravel.

2023-07-10 Thread jaredwilson
That's very validating, Piaw!

Max, you are correct in your assessment of the Atlas! Somehow I had it in
my head they were compatible. but I'm not suuuppperrr hung up on tubeless,
I've even had tubes in my Cliffhangers for the past year or so, haha.

Dyads, also not compatible, have been a good rim for me in the past and I
would be open to a pair of those as well. Will be running a max of 50mm
wide tires, probably more in the 42-44mm range so something that meshes
with that range would be ideal.

I'm located in Central CA, will be in the Bay Area Fri-Sun and could
facilitate a trade in person, or could ship out before Friday so my bike is
down while I'm out of town.

 Hey group,

Last listing went so well I'd like to see if there are any trade
 opportunities for this wheelset.

I purchased these wheels in 2020 for my first Susie, and while they're
amazing wheels I'm looking to "downgrade" in a sense. Mainly I don't need
the width of the Cliffhangers, and the White Industries rear hub is is too
loud for my taste so I'd like to switch to something quieter, and change
 to
 silver.

 Mine:

Velocity Cliffhanger 700c rims 32h black

Sapim Force Spokes with brass nipples black

Son Deluxe Widebody dynamo hub black

White Industries MI5 rear hub black

Great condition, present well and ride even better.

 Desired wheels:

 700c

 Silver

Tubeless compatible (not super essential but nice to have)

Dynamo hub (LOVE my Son hub, would ideally have another)

 Quiet rear hub!!!

Let's chat if you would like an opportunity to upgrade your existing
wheels, I'm sure there's a deal to be made somehow.

Thanks and please respond off list :)

Re: [RBW] Re: Derailer Question - XTR-951

2023-07-10 Thread Max Faingezicht
As it goes in life, it was a deal too good to be true.

I didn't read the fine print (it's on me): “The "B spring" and retaining
hardware seem to be missing. Pulley wheels missing but the bolts for them
are in place." - so now I'm looking for a donor derailer XTR RD-951 in poor
shape to see if I can build a functional one out of the two.

Does anyone have something in the parts bin that they're willing to
part with?

Thanks

[RBW] Re: FS: Legolas 54 FFHS - back on the market!

2023-07-10 Thread Valerie Yates
Hi all. The Legolas is still available. I'm happy to sell it either
complete or just the frame/fork and whatever parts you may want. How about
$1600 for frame, fork, headset, and bottom bracket or $2500 complete as
shown with Campy Centaur 10 speed and Rene Herse randonneur bars and
Steilacoom tires. If you prefer, I can swap with a longer stem and noodle
handlebars. I will pay for packing and buyer pays shipping. It is very
lightweight and Bike Flights has great rates on ground shipping. It is a
sweet bike and the yellow is so summery!

[RBW] FS: Rockgeist Boxy Randonneur bag - one of a kind

2023-07-10 Thread lukeheller
A local bag maker, https://rockgeist.com/, made this for my sister for
PBP2019 and she never used it. It's got a VO decaleur attached and it's
ready to roll.

Rockgeist is a very well known and respected custom frame bag company local
to Asheville.
They routinely have waitlists.
They have only ever made 2 of these boxy randonneurs bags... this one and
the one I use that is much taller. So this is 2 of a kind except mine
is taller.

I asked them to copy my old Swift bag with a couple changes such as:
-elastic on the inside (typical on current models)
-plastic buckles because the stainless buckles DO RUST
-an expandable side pocket on the right side.
-all XPAC material

The pink liner is helpful to brighten things up a bit when looking into the
abyss of your bag.

I've been using mine for 10,000+ miles and it continues to be an amazing
bag.
They only wear spots are at the tombstone and a few rub spots on the
underside which i'll get around to covering with a patch one day.

PICS: https://photos.app.goo.gl/rxxH71eyZujR4mfDA

Dimensions are:
10.25" wide
7.25" deep
7.75" tall

The bag is in new condition only with the derailleur attached.
Asking $250 total for the bag + shipping
Get it in time for PBP.
Please message me directly if interested.
Luke

[RBW] Re: Chainring Pins

2023-07-10 Thread RichS
George,

If you're friction shifting Rivendell sells chainrings without ramps or
pins. I do friction shift and in my experience the Origin8/Vuleta rings
work fine.

To one and all,

I changed the permissions in my Google Drive from "restricted" to "anyone
can view the files" on my picture files. Hopefully this works. Sorry for
the trouble. I am learning.
