Re: [RBW] FS: 53cm Roadeo

2024-06-14 Thread Toshi Takeuchi
I have a 79 PBH and a 53 cm Roadeo, which has a fairly low seatpost, so 81
PBH should work great. In fact, I wish I had more clearance between my
seat and the tire below, so a couple extra cm of would be great for not
worrying about the saddlebag rubbing the tire.

Pictures of my Roadeo setup (10 yrs ago) are here:

Re: [RBW] FS: 53cm Roadeo

2024-06-14 Thread Valerie Yates
Ryan - good research! My pbh is 83 and the 55 is perfect for me so I would
guess a 53 would be great for her 81.

Joe - you are right. Good thinking. I don't love the albastache although I
think on some bike, someday, it will be the right bar. I think drop bars
with brifters are the easiest entry point into drop bar riding. For me,
Soma Hwy 1 is the most comfortable drop bar.

Finding a beautiful, used Roadeo is one's size seems like hitting the
jackpot. And obviously this one has a special pedigree, being from Rich and
having such cool custom color details.

Re: [RBW] Summer off-road riding

2024-06-14 Thread danielle da cruz
Hey Dave,

I am! It was previously great on the 38s. I can’t wait to ride the carriage
roads on the new tires.

Enjoy your trip the week after! These are the weeks to be up there, before the
massive crowds. Have fun!

The 22mm I found are on order and will only get here next week.  I found 20mm and 25mm locally and may pick these up and see how they go.  I’m going to get new nuts and washers too.Im assuming with longer 25 vs 22 the screw/bolt can go through the nut and the locking feature of the nylon still works? When I go to the local shop I’m going to show them the existing one, photos of the bike, and see what we can rig up!JasonOn Jun 13, 2024, at 6:07 PM, Chester wrote:Jay wrote:That’s right.  M6, 22mm, thread pitch 1.  Nylon insert hex lock nut. With the Clem L I bought, there was a weird defect in the hex nut, with it having extra metal material inside the donut hole, ruining/covering up some of the threads, and this ruined the initial threads of the bolt, as well, so there was no way to tighten the seat clamp with the bolt/nut pair it came with. Sorted it out after a couple trips to the local Ace Hardware and their Drawers o' Fasteners. They didn't have quite the right length (I had to get longer) so I didn't note the length of what I got, but ended up with M6 and thread pitch of 1 as well.Turns out that the Clem Complete page specifies "It uses standard hardware store bolt (M6 x 22) and a 10mm hex nut." The Roadini page suggests that one could use M5 as well.I ride the Clem sometimes and have been meaning to try to find a countersunk washer that is small enough diameter to fit inside but is yet tall enough that I could use a quick release and not scratch up the paint of the seat binder.ChesterSF Bay Area

Hi Joe. On a very recent Sub24 outing it was amazing how many comments I got (on my Clem) regarding how comfortable & relaxed I appeared to be. One rider who I had done similar rides with before exclaimed that my riding always looked so effortless. And that’s exactly how it feels, even during hard efforts. The bike feels limitless.Sent from my iPhoneOn Jun 14, 2024, at 1:29 AM, Joe Bernard wrote:It's a perfect bicycle. I bought my Sam in 2009 and now it's not my oldest bike, but it is the bike
in my possession that I have possessed for the longest time. That bike is
also responsible for a large conversion of my general attitude and approach
to cycling and bicycles. Sam made me a grown-up. :)

It lives in my office in Wayne County Michigan, and I photographed it this
week to capture build details that I sometimes forget between visits.
Here's a couple of those shots:
