I second the disclaimer to check for washer prior to using crank puller.

 Hi all,

A while back I posted about low q, low-range cranks for my Hillborne.

I just ordered one of the VO 46/30s, which seems like a good option at
the price. I'll use the stock rings first, then tweak them down the road.

 A few questions - I'm going to try the install myself--I think--and
 this is my first attempt.

I understand that the VO 46/30 is supposed to be paired with a 118mm
BB. I have read on here of folks using shorter spindles. I currently have
either a 113 or 115mm on the Hillborne. I'm assuming the only way to know
is to remove the cranks and measure? Has anyone here tried a shorter
spindle on their Hillborne with the VO cranks?

My question - Should I try simply swapping cranks and see how the VO
cranks do at 115/113mm? If so, what would I be watching for to suggest a
problem? OR is this a dumb way to start tinkering with cranks? And if so,
any thoughts on swapping BB vs taking it a shop? (I have great shops
nearby, but like to gradually learn a few things every so often.)

 Thanks!

Interesting! Thanks Nick. And cool Atlantis. Do you by chance know which

I have an Atlantis with a basket but haven’t been on the trail since last
Monday. My gf and good friend both have Hillbornes, one black the other sage.
See you out there sometime.

[RBW] WTT: 51 Sam (MIT: Black) for 54.5 Homer or Equivalent

2020-06-06 Thread Andrew MacDonald
Hey Everyone,

I'm testing the waters to see if anyone would be interested in a trade.
The 51 Sam is just a smidge small. I am looking to keep the same wheelset
so something slightly larger with 650b and clearance for 40+mm tires. I
can send photos of frame, etc by request. The frame is still in good
condition maybe some knicks here and there. I am in Northern California
and would prefer not to spend money on shipping. Let me know if you are
interested.

Best,

Andrew

[RBW] WTB: Nitto Quill 130+

2018-09-26 Thread Andrew MacDonald
Hey Everyone. Finally managed to get myself a Riv. Got lucky and grabbed
the recent Hillborne demo bike. Since I'm between sizes on the Hillborne
frame I'm trying to make my 51 fit like something closer to a 53-54. I've
switched to Albatross bars and am currently running a 12 cm. Nitto stem. I
want to try something with a tad more reach. I've seen Nitto makes a 13
cm. Technomic and possibly made a 14 cm. Pearl a while back. If anyone has
one these laying around I would love to give either a try. Please let me
know. I could buy or have a few things to trade if interested (noodle, a
smaller noodle-esque bar from Blue Lug, my 12 cm. stem, etc.).

Many Thanks,

Andrew
