[RBW] Re: which size big back rack for 57cm Bleriot?

I've been using the nitto top rack for years. It works well for

are thinking about panniers I wouldn't recommend it.

David,

You might be pushing it putting Cldvs under those hammered 45s. The VO
site itself says for tires up to 35 and I believe Cldvs are 38s. Now,
you could probably fit them in there, but it would be tight.

[RBW] FS: Pacenti Pari-Motos - Black

2011-08-12 Thread Erik C
Selling a used pair of Pari-Motos. Probably around ~600 miles on
these. 100 of them were ridden on my Bleriot. I received them in a
trade to give them a try. These tires are
sublime on paved roads, but I live on gravel roads. Don't get me wrong
they are completely usable on gravel, but i'd rather pass these on to
someone who wants to try them. I have tons of other tires and while I
enjoyed these, I have other that I like better for my type of riding.

I'll let the pair go for $50. I would also consider trading for
another pair of used tires if they are similar quality and ones I
haven't tried before.

[RBW] Re: Tires for D2R2? Hetre, Fatty Rumpkin, or Col de la Vie?

2011-08-21 Thread Erik C
Can't speak to the hetre, but as someone who rides gravel on almost a
daily basis I can vouch for the fatty rumpkins. I found them more
stable than both the cypress and pari-moto. The rumpkins are
definitely more sluggish on pavement... Trade offs, trad offs! I just
picked up some Lierres to see if that are a happy medium between the
rumpkins and the pari-motos.

Good luck!

[RBW] GB Lierre report on the Bleriot

2011-08-25 Thread Erik C
Just wanted to give an initial review of these tires. I've had them on
my Bleriot for about a week now. I ride about 90% gravel and 10% road.
I could not be happier with how these tires perform. They roll smooth
and quick just like the other GB tires. I was a little concerned with
the tread appearing to be a little bulky in the photos, but this is a
supple tire. They run very nicely on pavement.

I have found this tire to be much more stable on gravel for me than
the Cypres and Pari-Moto. I am guessing this is because of more
negative cavity in these tires as compared to the other tires which
are basically slicks. The aforementioned tires tended to give me much
more of a sliding/roller ball effect on the loose stuff.

The other tire I had enjoyed on gravel for their stability was the
Fatty Rumpkins but you lose a lot in suppleness and smooth rolling on
pavement.

Anyway, high recommendations for this tire even for those who can fit
a Hetre.

[RBW] Re: Tapping Bleriot brake bridge

2011-02-19 Thread Erik C
Justin,

I'm running vo 52 zepplin fenders on my bleriot with sheldon fender
nuts. I tried to attach them with the daruma. but when it pulled the
fender up flush to the bottom of the fork, the angle of the fork
caused the front of the fender to dig into the tire. I needed to use
the sheldon fender nut and bend the L bracket accordingly to get a
good fender line.

I've ridden miles of crushed limestone rail trails in WI on my 650b
Grand Bois Cypres (32mm) and my wife was on Pasela TGs 700x37 I
believe, with no complaints from either of us. I now live in western
MN on gravel roads. The tires felt much more surefooted on the crushed
limestone. They aren't bad on the gravel, just not as stable as I was
hoping in some of the looser stuff.

I have P45s and Fatty Rumpkins on my Bleriot. The fit in the rear
isn't really an issue its more the front. Its tight, but I havn't had
any issues so far. I ride on gravel roads daily and the only time i
notice the clearance is if the farmers have dropped some clay in the
road and it clumps up on the tire. If it does that i'll get some
scraping as small stones get glued to the clumped on clay.

Both of these places are off the Blue line on the CTA. Logan Square

I have both a LHT and a Bleriot. With stock components the LHT is
obviously heavier when lifting it. My wife and I lived in a 3rd floor

how much lighter my Bleriot was. My Bleriot isn't really a "light"
