Re: [RBW] Re: FS: Frame - Susie W. Longbolts / Wolbis Slugstone 53cm!

2020-10-10 Thread Paul Budnitz
Thanks Mark.

It’s a super-cool bike. If nobody buys it soon I’m tempting myself to keep it
and use it as a second gravel bike. :)

I’d probably have to throw out our lawnmower to fit another bike in our shed,
however!

I dunked it in water and covered it with saddle grease to break it in fast,

[RBW] Re: 650b Atlantis Sizing for an 85PBH

2020-10-19 Thread Paul Budnitz
Hi Y'all.

I have both a 53 and a 56 Atlantis (though the 53 may go up for sale soon).
 My PBH is also 85-86.

Both actually fit well for me, but the 56 allows me to get bars higher more
conveniently.

I should add that they are both 2018 MIT, so slightly shorter reach!!

Best.

[RBW] WTB: Rivendell Nitto Faceplater Stem... or similar riser stem! 110mm!!

2020-10-31 Thread Paul Budnitz
Hello All.

Title says it all. I actually ordered one of these, then cancelled, now too
late and I feel real dumb.

If anyone has a 110mm version of Rivendell's new riser stem (see it here
,
it's sold out in my size) or equivalent riser stem I'd be super grateful.

I have a dirt drop, but it's a little too short.

THANK YOU!
Paul

Hello Everyone.

Sorry for the slow reply. For some reason my account now requires my posts
to be approved so it takes a while after I write.

My wife loves her bike. Finally riding with no pain. And yeah, I kind of
surprised her. Just told her a bike was coming and built it up one
afternoon while she was out, but it took a few weeks/tries to get the stem
right. This super tall one is from eBay (ie. China), just Google "tall
quill stem" and a bunch come up!

Hi Patrick!

Thanks!! Yeah I kind of like it as a chopped-out Clem.

The stem was on eBay. Just search for "tall quill stem" and keep searching
and you'll find it. Took about 3 weeks to get here, seems to be solid
steel. :0) Cheap from China I think!

Re: [RBW] Re: Bluelug/Nitto Losco Bar

2020-09-24 Thread Paul Budnitz
Hi Joe!!

Was thinking about your note.

You are right the Losco bars make no sense except they look awesome.

But for me making your bicycle look the way you want it to (and perform just
right too) can be half the fun.

The tension between trying to make a bike both ride and look great is part of
the challenge, and why I love bikes so much.

Bicycles are one of the last things left on earth you can build up out of
individual components made, all by different people, and make something truly
individual and your own.
