Plenty of rain and wind, but no flooding or damage here in Vero.

Thanks for the update. I too have always heard that if a hurricane tracked
up through the Tampa/St. Pete area at high tide the downtown areas would be
flooded. Sounds like a good thing that didn't happen. We do have friends
who are snowbirds and have property on Sanibel island. They're currently
here in the Midwest, but we're afraid to contact them about any problems
that may have occurred with any property in Florida since they may be
working with insurance companies, etc. at this point.

Great and thoughtful post George! I too am very concerned for those who might be in the areas hardest-hit by Ian. Chris Wiggins (who runs the Psychic Derailleur bike shop) is in Naples, and he just posted an update saying he and his shop are ok - aside from a bit of mopping! I live in the Tampa Bay area 3 months out of the year on a barrier island just north of Sarasota and Venice. Power is still out to our island currently, but I’ve heard from folks on the ground that everything was in relatively good shape. I’m feeling thankful because before Tuesday, it was set to make landfall right at Tampa Bay, and we were pretty on-edge. The storm surge risk is terrifying. On Sep 29, 2022, at 3:27 PM, George Schick wrote:I am concerned about some of the posters on this blog who live in Florida due to the hurricane.  Is everyone who lives down there doing OK?George
