Yes, the shirt is a Pendleton. Eastern Oregon is largely a mystery to me.
Looking forward to getting back over there in April. --Smitty

Andy, so bummed I couldn't get out that way with you. Hopefully I can make
it out next time. There are so many great roads out there. A ramble from
Dufur to Maupin would be excellent.

I was talking to a friend and he said it was pretty overwhelming the number
of people that showed up for the Dalles 60 (velodirt.com). Looks like you
and Tommy did the smart thing. Thanks for taking and sharing all the

Funny that you mention Maupin... There was a motorcycle club hanging out at
the store in Dufur when we pulled up. They were interested in us, our
adventure, and our bikes. We chatted for a bit before they pulled out and
we went in to get food. At one point one of them said Hey, bikes is
bikes. One of the motorcyclists suggested heading to Maupin for our next
adventure.

2013-03-10 Thread Dennis Hogan
Great pics Smitty Tommy - that is a beautiful area - I do the Gorge Ride
every year: Dalles to Mosher Tunnels and back via Rowena Crest and last
year the day before I rode out 8 mile road as a warm up. It is a beautiful
route.

BTW the Gorge Ride is sponsored by the Friends of the Historic Columbia
River Highway. It is on June 15th of this year. The Friends have done a
great job of restoring and preserving the old highway with the goal of
providing a route that will be completely off Rt 84 from Troutdale to the
Dalles.

Sorry for the commercial - Riv content: the rides were done on my AHH.

The first quarter mile is the worst part of that ride! Well, except for
crossing the bridge from the Maryhill area to Biggs, OR.

Looks like you found some nice places to ride, but when you go back, do
consider riding Dalles Mountain Road, and Old Moody Road. They're fantastic
dirt climbs.

Route info here, if anyone is
interested: http://velodirt.com/portfolio/dalles-mountain-60/
