No it does not take a 27.2mm seatpost. The frameset comes with a 26.8mm
seatpost. Yes, they are Taiwan made.

Thanks! I've been thinking about how this frame is a ton of bang for the buck.
Does it take a 27.2mm seatpost? These are made in Taiwan, right?

The Bob Jon Pass measures a true 35mm on Open Pro rims. The closest spot for
clearance is under the fork crown. I probably would be comfortable with 38s
with fenders and I suspect Rock and Roads would fit without fenders, and those
are 43mm knobbies

How is the tire clearance? Are the chainstays the limiting point? What's
the actual width of the Bon Jon Pass tires? How big do you think you could
go with/without fenders? Sorry for the barrage of questions, but inquiring

Can you provide a link to the pannier hardware or a photo of the connection
between your rod and the bag via the pannier hardware.

I understand the Nitto accessory to rod connection, but I picture the 26mm
section as slighty offset from center,. You described it as a "26.0mm end"

[RBW] Re: Rosco Road is much more complete now. Docena handlebar bag

2017-02-24 Thread Bob Lovejoy
Thanks Bill. That's a great solution, the hardest part of the plan being
that transition from the 23.8mm business end down to the 10mm required
section. To have it sectioned down to where it cannot slide is good work.
"Mad skills" as a co-worker used to say.

I am in the planning stages of reducing the number of bikes in the house,
quality and true use over quantity, but once I can focus on the bikes that
make the cut I am going to work on the decaleur solution myself, pretty
much following Rob's ideas as well as yours. I already have a Docena bag,
the trick being finding the right long term bike/rack/sizing combination.

Thanks for the explanation! Looking forward to whatever you publish about
it...

Oh, and I totally get the lift-a-tube... When I lived in Denver, I used
bikes and light rail and was forever mumbling when I had to lift my bike
into the high cars with the tall, short steps. Anything that can help with
that, as well as climbing and carrying to basements, apartments, etc. is a
good thing here.

Bob Lovejoy asked about my homemade decaleur. It's something that I'm
pretty proud of, so I'll try to describe it a little more. Yes, like Rob
Perks I started with a Nitto Accessory mount. Here is one variant of that
product. Link to Bens Cycle

I used one clamp. It has a 26.0mm end that clamps to the middle sleeve of
my Nitto Noodle. The other end wants to clamp something 23.8mm in diameter
(a.k.a. 15/16"). I got some 15/16" aluminum bar stock and lathed it down
to 12mm and then a short section of 10mm on the ends. Ortlieb pannier
hardware clips onto those 10mm ends. The 12mm part stops the Ortlieb clips
from sliding. I used the four-jaw chuck to lathe the part off center,
providing both clearance and adjustability. Here's a shot at the business
end of the home made decaleur. It's a little hard to see what's going on.
I maybe should do a short youtube of the separate bits and how they go
together.
