Wow, thanks y'all, I appreciate the insights. I'm leaning toward the
albatross bars and will give them a shot.

Re: [RBW] Seeking advice on handlebars

2021-05-16 Thread exliontamer
I think it's worth considering your shoulder width and how much you want to
be upright. Everyone is different. I'm 6'1" with the legs of a giraffe, the
shoulder width of Hulk Hogan, and the torso of a 5 year old so I tend to
like shortish stems with wide bars that have some back sweep towards me.
All of this may be totally invalid for you but for me...
*Flat Bars/Bullmoose - The wider the better. Strongly prefer them on
technical MTB trails and on short rides with some jackassery(hopping on
curbs, etc.). Can't stand them on long rides.
*Jitensha/Cinelli Pope/Map Ahearne style - Don't like any of them. The
wrist position flat out doesn't work for me.
*North Road/Albatross/Choco - Love everything about them in every way. The
CroMo Albatross are a good affordable way to try them out are just as good
as the aluminum ones. I have big hands so the position in the hooks is a
little tight but both positions are perfect for me and the bars have enough
room to be adaptable to grip length.
*Moustache Bars - No
*Bosco - Pretty awesome in every way but I have a preference to Albatrosses
which feel better to me off road and equally as good otherwise.

I'm biased but my vote would be to start with Albatrosses unless you've
tried flats and really want the Bullmoose. Even then something like the
SimWorks Getaround bar would be cheaper, wider, and give you a similar
sensation.

[RBW] Seeking advice on handlebars

2021-05-16 Thread Johnny Burrell
Hey all,
Next week I'll get a new-to-me Hunqapillar and I don't prefer the current
drop bars. I'd like to switch to a more upright setup, but unsure which.
The Bullmoose caught my eye, I like the taper more than bars that come
straight back. What other options are good ones? How does one go about
correctly sizing and fitting new bars? The stem is, i think, about 100-110
which is my preference in this size bike.

school me and learn me up on how to pick out handlebars?
