The width was my largest reservation, but I rolled the dice and we'll see
how it goes.

Glad to hear they're well received otherwise, looking forward to getting
them on the new XL, been missing a Susie in my life for too long now.

I built my Appaloosa with JJJ bars. I like them a lot; however, I agree
with Larson.photo33 slightly wider would be desirable to me. My handlebar
wishes are very similar to yours and the JJJ is the closest I have found
that fit the bill, and I will be happy using them until something same but
wider comes along.

I put Sycip JJJ bars on my Black Mountain Cycles monstercross bike last
year to convert the bike from drop bars, and have liked them very much. The
sweep is right for me and I am able to get a second hand position on the
curves, which I use often. They are close, but not quite perfect. I think
if I was getting a custom Doom bar I would base it on the JJJ bar, but
wider (about 710mm) with just a little more rise. I am building up a Joe
Appaloosa as my first Rivendell and am going to give Billie bars a try. If
this doesn’t work I will probably get the custom Doom bars based on the JJJ.

Dave, It is really going to be a case of getting our hands on the bikes and
trying stuff out! Im pretty keen to try this Wright stem/Jones bar combo
but if it doesn't work I'll happily use a Billie or maybe even score a Rons
Back Bar in the next batch (in 18 months, lol).

Eric, That JB bar has also been on my radar, it has a unique aesthetic.
Unfortunately it is cromo and I'm not sure I'd enjoy the very short main
grip area in actual use. It would fun to try nonetheless.

2022-01-09 Thread Davey Struthers
I'm also in this boat, 5'8 long inseam went for the large because I wanted
29 wheels.
I have a crust bj stem 31.8 30mm that I'm thinking might work with
tumbleweed bars I have, could be too short though. I'd also like the crust
ui stem or any of the analog options, I'm also just guessing what the reach
might be, assuming that it will be loong for me!
I do like the look of the more traditional riv hilli builds (mostly gus's)
on insta with tosco bullmoose but also the newer builds with short stems
and less sweep bars, so I'm torn and too excited to just wait to sit on it
and see!
Hopefully faceplater stems are magically in stock when the frames arrive!

Cheers
