I *owned* one not too long ago. I just got done selling it for parts. I
was running it in the
snow last year and split one of the drive sprockets in half. Personally I
wouldn't bother
due to the fact you will end up fixing it all the time. The tracks seem to
be fine for it's
intended use, but the gearboxes and sprocket are a real weak spot. People
strip them
out all the time. The other issue you will run into is getting a marker
small enough to fit
in the turret. The guy that used to convert them for paintball use (
www.foxflier.com) used
a .40cal marker. That caliber paintball isn't as reliable (for breaking on
impact and not in
the barrel). If it's cheap enough, buy it and sell it on Ebay for parts so
you don't have to
ship quite a large box. When I parted mine out, I got over $400 for all the
parts (minus the
lower hull and upper hull). I listed the auctions like this: one track,
one track, right gearbox,
left gearbox, the turret (complete), left side of bogies and idler, right
side of bogies
and idler, all the electronics and radio, and all the other parts that could
be removed from
the hull and the accessories in the last auction. You can buy a complete
tank for $150 so
I was amazed at how much the parts brought in. I sold mine because of the
sprocket issue
and because the upper hull developed a large crack down the front armor
plate. You would
probably be looking at replacing the electronics and motors to make it
strong enough to take
the abuse that can be dished out during paintball combat. I would say price
out some drill type
motors and gearboxes, a new 5-6 channel radio, a .40 cal marker, and some
motor ESC's and
that's what you'd be looking at for it to be effective IMHO. You would
basically have to purchase
all of that stuff if you built a tank yourself. My first tank (T065) was
built with scavenged ply so
building the hull was not very expensive. My new KV-2 tank will be the most
technologically
advanced tank in my arsenal being made from PVC sheet (kinda expensive), the
drive bearings
are from a Go-Kart (like these:
