[TANKS] A KingTiger going in restoration
Hi guys, I think its already 2 years ago I started to build a 1/6 KingTiger in 16g. steel, and when I got the hull done as usual the Tracks come to mind and maked me stop a bit. Having lots of wheels around I placed under the KT hull six of them, all six motorized with a system of chain and sprockets. I played around with it in summer and in winter on the snow. Few months ago I taked the occasion Will Montgomery offered with some of his extra rolling chain #2060 to use to make the tracks. So the wheeled KT entered back in the shop and got rid of all his wheels, sprockets, chains... and is being refitted as KingTiger tank. I have also found what I think the perfect motors for it, wheelchair 24v with more power than needed. The motors have even a gear reduction box onboard that do perfectly to copy the one on the real KT. Here the link to see a few pics of the restoration project... http://s757.photobucket.com/albums/xx212/Gregtank Greg. -- You are currently subscribed to the "R/C Tank Combat" group. Re: [TANKS] Re: M1 Abrams plans
It'd probably be better to make it to 1:6 scale, not to 3 feet, as it'll be easier to make it bigger, since you can fit all your stuff in. Personally I prefer 1:5 scale, but that's because I'm a metric person and think that 1:6 scale is silly. With Imp it's easier though, since you just get the feet, times by six and you get the length, or something like that. But let's not get into an argument over why Metric is obviously superior. -Gregory On Sun, Sep 5, 2010 at 5:01 PM, jackal...@yahoo.com wrote: > M01s it is then :) thanks a ton for all the info. oh and il > deffinatily take loads of pics once i get started on my tank. i have > some pics on my facebook of the project i was working on.
