[TANKS] Re: !/3rd Tank build
Thank you for the kind words. I compress the springs using channel locks(tounge and groove pliars) and simply pull them off one side at a time. http://i752.photobucket.com/albums/xx165/cobra9431/0091.jpg By compressing these 2 points together, the idler wheel gives enough slack to slip the track off with ease. Nice thing about this track is that since getting the correct spring tension, it has yet to throw. knock on wood * :) Do you plan on using a suspension system? If not then there would probably be no advantage in a idler like mine. But I would think an independent idler wheel for tension would be best for any set up using a suspension system. Otherwise any time one track's suspension is stressed on one side, and the other not, then one might have problems with alignment at that wheel and/or improper tension distribution. Perhaps real life operation is not a drastic as I imagine it, but I plan on navigating gnarly terrain. I would not be offended if you did not use the idler concept for your own as at 1:3 you might need a set of uber sized chennel locks, but the design is for any and all to use and abuse as wished. [TANKS] Hello
First off I thought I should introduce my self. My name is Mike and I live in Wisconsin, US. A few weeks ago I happened to come across your main web site and instantly knew I had to at least try to build one. I gathered a few friends and we sat around in my basement and came up with ideas and and materials and eventually came to the conclusion that we would try to do it as cheaply as we could as we are all poor at the moment. We are trying to produce something very close to the Ha-Go #T052. We would like to make tracks out of hinges, but are not aware of any place that sells them cheap enough to fit our budget. I have spent hours searching the net (specifically McMaster Carr) and local hardware stores but haven't come up with much. I am looking for hinges with a pin length of at least 2. Because we are on a budget and because we will be using the tank as a recon vehicle for air soft and not paintball, scale and aesthetics are not high on our list of priorities. We just need to find parts for a reasonable price. Any help given would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Mike. -- You are currently subscribed to the R/C Tank Combat group. Used treadmill belts and scrap wood are usually quite inexpensive and readily available in most neighborhoods. Frank P. -- You are currently subscribed to the R/C Tank Combat group. [TANKS] Re: Hello
Welcome Mike, I am in fond du lac (AC006) www.surpluscenter.com Is a great place for wheels, chain and sprockets. I would agree that the TTS track is the cheapest and has a proven record of durability. I like wheelchair style motors as they have reduction gears built in and are quite powerful. Small Sealed lead acid batteries are alot less expensive than equivalent nicads or lithium. Let me know if I can help. Midwest tankers forever. Re: [TANKS] motor
I'm just looking for a gut check - are there any tanks in the low 100 lb range running around this speed with this motor size? Will conveyor belt tracks live at this speed? Is 115 lbs realistic for a tank this size? On Thu, Nov 4, 2010 at 9:01 PM, Doug Conn dwconn...@comcast.net wrote: Are you asking for us to double check your speed calculation ?
