I went many times to Switzerland with “Youth Groups”, and we slept in their
underground nuclear bunkers – which was a cheap way to get a hotel room. They
have a fascination for WW III meltdowns.

As to comparing it to the Maginot line? Switzerland has a natural defense
that is much more efficient than the border between Germany and France… It’s
called the Alps!

  Andy,
I've been using Krylon spray paints on my last 3 tanks. Everything
washes off with no trouble. Frank has been using latex paint, same thing. No
protective coatings were used.
The only time that I had trouble was using Rustoleum, which has
some oil in it. The paintball goo would blister up the finish.

John P. aka Earl Scheib I can paint your tank for $4.99 .

$4.99 paint job is for 1 base coat only, masking done by owner, choice
of color not available, waiver of liability must be signed, no warranties or
guarantees are expressed or given . Payment in cash only and presented before
work is done. Your satisfaction is of no importance to us. Absolutely no
refunds. If you feel the need to sue, contact our lawyers.

Folks,

I am wondering what people have used as a protective coating for their
tanks. Currently, my Abrams is painted with a 3 coats of oil based paint. My
concern however is that that I may mess up the paint job during combat with
residue/stains from paint-balls. I imagine, to some extent, this is
unavoidable. However I am wondering if people have any thoughts on adding a few
coats of matte polyethylene or some other coating to make paint-ball battle
scars easier to wipe off. I'd rather not have to dissemble and repaint after
every battle.

Any clever suggestions are welcome.

Swaging is more akin to riveting. Swaging can be done with a hammer and punch.

  Mike,

One again Herr Tyng has developed something that defies description.
He said that he whacked it with a hammer and then tightened the

His process uses a toothed tool to plastically deform a workpiece by impact.
  There is no metal removal.

Swaging is plastic deformation induced by impact or pressure and usually

Broaching uses a toothed tool (generally for metal removal) and usually does

Because I was not familiar with impact broaching and because only plastic

I have some progress of two tanks that myself and my students are making.
We currently have four tanks under way but only two are worth posting at this
point.

Tank No 1 is a British scorpion. a fine young man named Joe ( aged 13 ) is in
charge of this beauty.
You will notice that Ive started using paper mache as a build material. this
has the advantage of giving the kids plenty of work to do that I can just let
them get on with and its very cheap. I plan to add layer upon layer until it is
rigid enough.
We are about to start work on the paper mache turret when I have completed
the basic mold.
The paper mache turret can later be glassed if we decide its too weak.
Ill add progress as its made.
