The holes you see in the front panel are used to keep the back/sides in place. The back/sides of the unit have been removed to show the inner workings, with all primary components shown in the photo. There is only some point-to-point wiring below the base you see, with a couple of resistors. When i get home ill look it up in my RCA tube manual... maybe there will be a clue in it, like frequency range or gain... A quick Google search shows its a triode that only has 4 pins... Im genuinely curious what needs amplification and a tuned circuit but isnt related to radio or audio... Ok. Heres my new theory then. The multi-tap shielded inductor, the variable capacitor and one tube form a Hartley oscillator. Of course that leaves a second tube and potentiometer unaccounted for. We can see two sets of machine screws or bolts with nuts in the middle of the panel at the top of the photo. They aren't connected to anything on the back side that we can see.
