[TANKS] New Builder Looking for Assistance
I have been building RC Ships, Aircraft, and cars for years. A friend and I have been absent from our main hobby "Warship Combat" for some years now due to time and funding restraints. I am now retired from the Army and time seams to be something I have plenty of, I wish I could say the same about funding but life is good anyway. We have been looking into how we could convert our old Small Gun warship hobby into tanks. The safety of the guns has been an issue that we can not get around so we are adjusting our thought process to that of paintball. I remembered some folks talking about tanks back a few years ago so we looked up Frank's Site. I am going to be starting a 1/6 scale Tiger I, Late War Model. I also think we are starting a Ferdinand as well for my friend. My thought process is to build a plug for the turret and hull and make a reinforced fiberglass hull. Once built, a few times around the local park and we should have some more building in this area. Anyway, I have located some drawings of a tiger, but they are not very clear or large enough to be scaled at Kinkos. The lines blur too much. Does anybody have a 1/6th scale plans for a tiger I can purchase or get a copy of? I would be eternally thankful. McSpuds Ky -- You are currently subscribed to the "R/C Tank Combat" group. Hi my names Ed, I'm from Hamilton ON, and I've been following this site with much interest for nearly a year now. Recently given up and decided to try my hand at 1/6 tank building. Heres the plan, so far... I ordered several Paper model kits from europe and had them enlarged from 1/32 to 1/6 scale. I figure I could use these paper parts as templates for most of the hull and turret parts, that will be made from welded 12 ga mild steel, of which I have an existing supply. Already have a pair of motors too...and an old tippman marker. I'd like to order some attachment chain as well tracks so I can get started building (whats the pricing like on that stuff?). The subject? I've chosen one I think no one has done before, the "M24 Chaffee". Pics to follow...Most of my r/c experience is in aviation, so any help, input, advice, or criticism would be appreciated. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You are currently subscribed to the "R/C Tank Combat" group. I've been a member of the group for awhile and I think I've decided to build myself a tank. Probably a kv-1. My question would be what is the minimum set of tools I'd need to pull this off? Beyond a little woodworking and trailor building with my grandfather I have no experience or tools at all. Hello everyone, I've been browsing the RCTC site for some time now, and you guys have done some awesome work. I've been inspired, and have decided to build a 1/6 scale Abrams, for which the lower hull is almost complete. For motors I have two of the 350W electric scooter motors. I'm currently located in Rochester, MN. I've noticed that there are a few other members in Minnesota as well, but I couldn't find a specific team for us mid-westerners... I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions for you guys in the coming weeks/months! -Don Shankin --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You are currently subscribed to the "R/C Tank Combat" group.
