[TANKS] Re: C6C hook up

2009-10-03 Thread Chris Malton

Hi:

I'm using the C6C in both tanks that I have, and I've never had any
issues with it. I had to make a small circuit for the trigger system
myself, but you can do it the way Neil's done it which uses a servo and
a switch.

As long as you get a decent wireless PS2 controller to go with it, I've
found it's fine. I can recommend a few PS2 controllers (and strongly
advise against others).

As far as putting it together is concerned, as long as you can do some
basic soldering, it's only perhaps 50 solder joints at most. You will
need a multimeter to test it, but as long as you test it all before
putting the main chip in, you'll be fine.

Hope that helps.

Chris

Hi Chris,

Which of the PS2 contollers have you found to work the best?

[TANKS] Re: C6C hook up

2009-10-03 Thread Chris Malton

OK, I've had a MadCatz Wireless Micro Controller as shown at
http://www.play.com/Games/PlayStation2/4-/3512890/Madcatz-PS2-Wireless-Microcon/Product.html?ptsl=1ob=Pricefb=0

That's had the best range of those I've tried.

The next best are these ones:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemitem=110410764013

They've worked well for me. Range isn't as good as the MadCatz one
though. It is still plenty for RC Tank Combat though (~5-10 metres).

I also have tried one from Amazon, and it's really unreliable and the
range is about 5cm (yes, 5cm!). The ones from eBay are most readily
available (on eBay), just be careful that you get one that is actually
that type. There is a silver version of it, which works equally well.

Hope this helps.

Yes, it works. I assembled one in about an hour with a cheap soldering pencil.
You do need some soldering skill to keep from bridging the circuits and
roasting the components.
