Re: [RE-wrenches] Outback Boards

2019-02-06 Thread Ray
I usually replace the control board and AC board at the same time, and
the fan as well.  I've never had to replace a FET board, but I've had to
return for the fan, or AC board when I only did the control board.
Control board seems the most sensitive to surges, while the AC board
relays can burn, and of course fans only have so many spins in them.

We have an inverter that is from around 2005 (serial number**VFX

[RE-wrenches] XW mystery battery settings

2019-02-06 Thread William Miller
Wrenches:

One of the “features” of the XW inverter is the method with which battery
programming is accomplished. Unless one sets up a custom battery setting
scheme, you are stuck with the generic options: Flooded, AGM, etc. I need
to have a better understanding of the voltage levels at which my batteries
are charging. I perused the manual and cannot find what voltages apply to
any of the generic battery types. Do any of you know what these voltage
levels are?

Thanks in advance,

What is the application (Off-grid, Grid-Tie)?

Other than AGS loosing communications, is there any other device with
communication problems?

If this is only on the AGS, how do you know that it is related to
communication on Xanbus?

Thank you for the speedy reply. Here are the components for just one
problematic system:

3 XW 6048 inverter, model number 865-1000. Master serial number is
11DFBFOB.

2 XW-MPPT60-150 charge controllers

1 SCP

1 AGS

2 terminators on the ends of data bus.

The equipment is circa 2009. The case number is Case 19410834 and I spoke
with Chantille on 6/4/15. We replaced all of the network cables and we
still have problems. I suspect some of the new cables may be green in
color and I now understand that brand O cables may not meet data industry
specs. Before I replace them again, I want to know if I need 6’ cables or
any other advice you may offer.

Again the AGS is frequently losing communications with the system. What
else should I check? Don’t know the firmware version. I have a dongle.

I will need system specific information to make any comments on your
reported communications issues.

As far as the recommendations for 6 foot CAT5, that was done 5 to 7 years
ago for a specific application, and it is still valid when working with
large systems, where you are pushing the Xanbus network maximum.

Hello Drake.

In the Xanbus network, you have devices with power such as inverters, and
other devices without power.

You can not connect an SCP directly to an MPPT60, because both SCP and
MPPT60 have no power, but if you have an inverter in the network, it should
give sufficient power for the devices.

There are several reasons why a device that is still fully functional but
not show up on the network. This ranges from the minor CAT5 cable problem
to maybe a damage communication card. Some may be solve
