Re: [RE-wrenches] Automatic load control
We have two Sol-Ark / Fortress deployments just finished/in progress and one uses seven Lumin panels for load shedding and the other has SPANs. In retrospect the Lumin project should have used SPAN since it was a new construction project and the Lumin is more of a retrofit product in my opinion. We have been pairing Lumin panels with Tesla Powerwalls for at least five years as a way of using a single PW to provide whole home backup and it's a very solid product with excellent support. I think we're going to see more and more standard electrical panels being built as "smart" panels that will include load shedding capabilities as demand management becomes more and more of a smart financial decision with rising energy costs. But for now it's still niche products like these. - Sam ___ List sponsored by Redwood Alliance Pay optional member dues here: http://re-wrenches.org List Address: RE-wrenches@lists.re-wrenches.org Change listserver email address & settings: http://lists.re-wrenches.org/options.cgi/re-wrenches-re-wrenches.org There are two list archives for searching. Re: [RE-wrenches] Automatic load control
Aloha Howie, The Lumin Smart Panel has worked well for us. https://www.luminsmart.com/ Software is simple and tech support was on point. The app works well also. Bonus...you can remotely monitor power consumption on each controlled load. Two minor hang ups: 1. Having to run a separate "grid sense" circuit. This circuit has to be pulled from a location that is on the grid side of the Sol-Ark. This can be in a pain when the load you wanna dump is on sub panel clear across the property from the inverter. I am sure this the case with all these load shedding type devices. 2. You have to do a training to install them. It was a short webinar. Super easy. Re: [RE-wrenches] Automatic load control
Howie: Segregated load distribution. Simple, automatic. I don’t get why they put 200 amp pass-through on an inverter that can only produce 62.5 amps. Re: [RE-wrenches] Automatic load control
SPAN Panel, or you can try Generac 7006 automatic load shed device (100A) https://apelectric.com/generac-7006-smart-management-module/ Or G7000 (50Amp) I’ve heard they work with other inverters, not just GENERAC only, but of course you’d have no warranty when mixing brands.
