Re: [RE-wrenches] GTBB inverters without batteries

2020-10-05 Thread Rick Brown
Sol-ark will function w/o batteries. Pretty straightforward installation with
no need for a separate charge controller.

Re: [RE-wrenches] Trace SW 4048

2020-08-01 Thread Rick Brown
Marco,

Can you be more specific when you say not producing PV power? Do you mean no AC
output? Given that these are battery-based inverters they’re not dependent on
the PV to be present in order to operate. What state are the batteries in? Is
the voltage stable when the inverter is in invert mode?

[RE-wrenches] Two Dilemmas

2020-07-23 Thread Rick Brown
Wrenches,

Dilemma #1:

I’ve had to replace 4 sets of Solar One batteries (see pic). Each set weighs in
excess of 1000lbs. How have you all transported these? The originals were
placed into service prior to the room’s walls and roof going up.

Dilemma #2:

The above system is comprised of a Trace SW5548 along with two Outback FM60s.
After reprogramming the CCs and inverter with new charging parameters, I can’t
get the Trace to export excess production once the batteries are charged. I do
have the inverter set to “Sell” mode What am I missing? I have had little
experience with the Trace line.

Re: [RE-wrenches] TS4R-F Feedback

2020-07-18 Thread Rick Brown
We’ve had good experience with the TS4R-Fs. Straightforward installs although
wire management is more cumbersome than micros.

Since they’re Sunspec compliant no need for a separate RS initiator. AC
disconnect is all that’s required.

Too early to give feedback on long term reliability. Hope that helps.

Re: [RE-wrenches] Fullriver Battery meltdown

2018-05-10 Thread Rick Brown
I’m inclined to agree with Maverick. Mixing old and new batteries is not
recommended. Differing internal resistance coupled with potentially extreme
temps can lead to thermal runaway.
