Did you see the self consumption or backup on XW+? Also XWPro
is only a bit more and has a 10 product warranty on it. If you used this
with the Discover AES LFP, xanbus can directly link Soc and all battery

Re: [RE-wrenches] AC/DC coupling on conext

2019-06-25 Thread Lones Tuss
Hello Drake
This is from the App note
OutBack’s Frequency Shift AC Coupling is only employed in the Radian GS(A)
class inverter at this time. It requires a firmware upgrade on both the Radian
inverter and MATE3s system display and controller. The firmware is only
available by download on the OutBack Power website.

The GS-AC-GEN –KIT is available from Distributors.
It contains the needed breakers and relays the app note shows the wiring.
Take Care Sir

Hi Lones,

Can the frequency shift be retrofitted to an earlier radian, four + years old?
The unit now has the obsolete, remote operated circuit breaker (ROCB) that I'm
a bit concerned about.

Thanks,

Hi Andrew
OutBack now has AC Coupling for the Radian using frequency shift.
Below is a link to the Ac Coupling/ Frequency Shift App Note located on the
OutBack website.
http://www.outbackpower.com/downloads/documents/appnotes/acc_freq_app_note.pdf
You also state the client wants to “get solar” in a situation where the grid
cannot accept incoming solar.
The radian has several modes which utilizes solar and will prevent sell back.
This might be an option to consider.
Take Care Sir

With the StorEdge and LG Chem product, the StorEdge inverter (DC coupled
inverter for both PV and the battery) is the brains of the system and can
be programmed to your liking. If you are not familiar with the product, you
should check it out.

Re: [RE-wrenches] AC/DC coupling on conext

2019-06-24 Thread drake . chamberlin
Hi Lones,

Can the frequency shift be retrofitted to an earlier radian, four +
years old? The unit now has the obsolete, remote operated circuit
breaker (ROCB) that I'm a bit concerned about.

Thanks,

Drake

Hi Andrew

OutBack now has AC Coupling for the Radian using frequency shift.

Below is a link to the Ac Coupling/ Frequency Shift App Note located
on the OutBack website.

http://www.outbackpower.com/downloads/documents/appnotes/acc_freq_app_note.pdf
[1]

You also state the client wants to “get solar” in a situation
where the grid cannot accept incoming solar.

The radian has several modes which utilizes solar and will prevent
sell back. This might be an option to consider.

grid cannot currently accept incoming solar, but we can buy from them.
I was thinking about doing an conext xw system and then solaredge ac
coupling for module level shutdown but I don’t know how well that
would be on the conext side of things for charging some discover
lithium ion batteries? I would rather do standard DC coupled system
but not familiar with any of those 3rd party rapid shutdown
devices(fire raptor and midnite?), has anyone used any before?

The only way to grid zero with a Radian is with dc coupled solar. AC coupled
with frequency shift has to sell to the grid.

Yes, they do LI’s. Yes they sell their own batteries but we are in the
process of using one with Tesla car batteries ( harvested from damaged Tesla’s

they can handle the lithium ion batteries? Kinda looks like they have their own

Take a look at the Sol-Ark product. Far more robust than the SE and probably
the best hybrid on the market. Can take up to 11 kw worth of solar, 8 kw AC of
output with high peak levels. Easy to wire and the customer support is great.
Does work with rapid shut down from a few vendors. We have been very happy with
the production #s as well as the battery charging and management. Can be
programed to power the CL panels as well as the main panel without selling back
to the grid.
