Re: [RE-wrenches] Schneider Electric XW Pro
Hello Kent, Thank you for your feedback. While the SCP is available for basic configuration, the Gateway is the best option to maximize the XW Pro's full features and configuration options. The XW Pro Owner's Manual has been updated with monitoring and configuration information based on the Gateway. https://solar.schneider-electric.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/ML202003_Conext-XW-Pro-NA-Owners-Guide-990-91227A-01.pdf With the Gateway, you and your customer can have full access to monitor and control with great flexibility: * Local connection with no internet required * Via InsightCloud for remote monitoring and support The XW Pro powers Gateway through Xanbus, ensuring it is accessible for configuration even if the AC power has been disconnected. My complaint was (and is) that despite what the manual says, you can't set up a XW Pro slave unit in a multi-inverter system using the system control panel (SCP); that can only be done using the gateway or the configuration tool. And once a XW Pro is set up to be a slave, the only path back to being a master is with the gateway or the configuration tool, or to reset the unit to factory defaults with the SCP. Technician explained that the 20-year old design of the SCP doesn't have enough memory to allow the 120/240 split phase options. However, it does seem to have enough memory for 120 or 240 single phase and 120/208 three phase, ... The reason this is a thorn in my side is that Schneider wants to market this inverter for off grid use and seems to totally ignore what happens when you have an off grid power system failure. If you have a master inverter failure and need to reconfigure the system, it needs to be something that can be corrected easily - in the middle of the night. No ac power, no computer, no phones, no internet. The only option seems to be to reset a slave unit with the SCP and then reprogram it. No longer as enthusiastic about using Schneider for off grid power. Re: [RE-wrenches] Schneider Electric XW Pro
Ok I do get it. thanks Tump ! I have not tried this yet but Kent said at the end of his post " The only option seems to be to reset a slave unit with the SCP and then reprogram it." So one can do the above by removing the xanbus from the dead master and use the SCP to reset to factory or restore defaults on the old slave. There would not be any programming to get power on. Configuration of all the setpoints, AC settings, Inverter settings and Charger settings can be done after you/they sleep in. The defaults are pretty forgiving for a master to buy some time. I do have some clients who could not remove the 4 screws and remove the 2 xanbus connectors and use and use network connector double female to bypass the old master with my guidance. They concern me, but they know it is their choice not to have back-up. XW is super reliable though and there is always AC bypass to the genset. It is really funny to me that there are people still out there offgrid that tell me my back-up is candles and kerosene Dave Angelini Offgrid Solar "we go where powerlines don't" http://members.sti.net/offgridsolar/ [1] e-mail offgridso...@sti.net [2] text 209 813 0060 On Thu, 7 Jan 2021 12:14:55 -0500, Tump wrote: My point was there are other Manu options we have available to us. The SCP does work fine with XWP for most all normal settings. Schneider knows about the SCP and also know how ridiculously small it is to read.
