I have to indorse this book as well. I had not seen it before this
message. I went and had it look and bought the book. It was well worth
the purchase.

My two main books are:

Linux Administration Handbook by Nemeth, Snyder and Hein (Prentice Hall)
Maximum Linux Security by Anonymous (SAMS)

I also find myself often reaching for:

The Linux Problem Solver by Ward (No Starch Press)

I believe there is a _Linux Bible_ for Redhat 8.0 if you want something
specifically written with RH8 in mind (I think it comes with a publishers
version of the OS as well). for more general Linux advice, I like
_Running Linux_ by Welsh, et. al. published by O'Reilly.

I like books too, but sometimes the online info is the best. The Linux
Documentation Project has the best collection of
docs. Between the LDP and Google, I've managed to answer just about any
question I've had about Linux.

Linux Administration Handbook, Nemeth, Snyder and Hein is the standard Linux
Admin manual. All Sys Admins I know use this book, and with the minimal
administration I have done, this book has had all the answers. It covers
all Sys Admin's general tasks from adding peripherals, to security, to shell
programming.
