Re: Loud sound when soundcard initalizes?
Mark, Same problem with an AWE32. No solution, though. Scares the out of me when it happens. ;-) Regards Gustav Mark Ivey wrote: Hi, I'm running RH 6.2 (although I had the same problem under 6.0) on a pentium 200 with a sound blaster AWE 64. I used sndconfig to set up the soundcard and everything seems to work fine, except that sometimes when I'm booting up the computer makes a really loud crashing sound when it initalizes the sound. Besides the fact that it probably isn't too good for my speakers, it always startles the daylights out of me. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it? Re: Loud sound when soundcard initalizes?
I have a dell optiplex gx1 with RH 6.1 and my computer does the same thing. I've been in contact with the people at dell and they told me they are aware of the problem, but they do not know of a fix. Despite what they told me, I'm still actively looking for a fix. The problem is likely a software problem. I've noticed that the sound occurs when I play wave files and MP3 files, however, it does not happen when I play a music CD. Good luck! I'll let you know if I stumble on a solution. --- Mark Ivey [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi, I'm running RH 6.2 (although I had the same problem under 6.0) on a pentium 200 with a sound blaster AWE 64. Re: Loud sound when soundcard initalizes?
Hyung, I'm not sure if I follow. Mark and I have the problem when the sound card is initialized during the boot process. From what I understand in your description, your problem is when you start playing a waw or mp3 file. Is that correctly understood by me? If so, we seem to have two different (probably software related) problems here. Regards Gustav Hyung Kim wrote: I have a dell optiplex gx1 with RH 6.1 and my computer does the same thing. Re: Loud sound when soundcard initalizes?
Yes, I hear the sound every time a sound file starts. It only happen if I boot Linux and not when I boot windows. --- Gustav Schaffter [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hyung, I'm not sure if I follow. RE: Loud sound when soundcard initalizes?
That's the sound linux makes when some cards initialize. Turn the volume down a little on your speakers and you will be fine. The system volume in linux is much higher than in windows. -Original Message- From: Hyung Kim [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Sunday, April 23, 2000 3:05 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Loud sound when soundcard initalizes? RE: Loud sound when soundcard initalizes?
I've tried adjusting the volume. The volume of the wave sound changes but the popping sound does not. --- Jason Bradley Nance [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: That's the sound linux makes when some cards initialize.
