I don't think you will get the capacitance and base loading coil to work
on 222 band from 154, that is a large step - I think hustler has a g6 or
g7 on 222.

Hi Chuck and gang
Here are some values for 2 meters (GE MASTRII)air variable cap 2-14
pF with fixed 15pF in paralell to ground on input side next 3 to 4
turns #14 wire wound about 3/8" to a air veriable 2-24 pF in
paralell with 10 pF fixed to ground on the out put side. for UHF the
fixed caps are deleted. I would use 2-30pF air veriables for VHF and
leave out the fixed units. The veriables are adjusted and the coil
can be compressed or expanded to make adjustments.

What is the voltage when the receiver is squelched? It is likely

But I do know that we (Metro-Comm) bought two of them and got them

Delaware.  They are marked with our repeater pairs on them and work
well.
When I tried to get the DB-420 from Tessco they told me on the phone
that they did not sell enough to stock any in the Hams bands. I call DB and
they gave me Cooks number.
So that is all I know. I have been happy with all my repeater parts

Hey Jeff,
Just to bring you up to date, Andrews bought DB and move the
whole plant to Mexico. I just got off the phone with DB to fine out if Cook has
a pike of these in a warehouse some where (NOS)or are they new. The reply is
that they buy enough to have them made.
I called Cook and they said they can still get
them.
So I guess they are buying a pile of them. The two we bought
came from there Delaware warehouse but I sent the money order to
NJ.
Any way that is all that I found out today.
Good luck and 73!

  Decibel quit making the
ham-band DB420 (S-420-440-450) as of Jan 1 this year.  From what I was
told, the harnesses for that antenna and other low-volume custom jobs were
hand-made in Mexico.  Either that plant was closing, or the contract
house in Mexico that was making them was closing, whichever the
  case.

  The standard DB420B (450-470)
works well in the ham band anyway, usually better than 15 dB return loss down
to 442 MHz.  The low-split DB420A (406-420) works OK up to about 433
  MHz.

  The broadband Sinclair dipole
arrays are excellent antennas, but they are pricey.

  If anybody is building a
420/430 link hub or the like and needs any low-split dipole arrays, I have a
DB411 (brand new) and a DB420 (used, very good condition) for 406-420 (pickup
  only in Philadelphia area).

Re: [Repeater-Builder] Z-Matcher

I just bought a Z-Matcher from EMR and installed it on my repeater. It
didn't improve the situation over my 61" lead between transmitter and
duplexer but I was able to match random lengths of coax to the same
performance. So it works!

The cost of this little box was well under $100 including shipping to
Canada. I wouldn't build one myself unless I had the parts kicking around
or had some special enclosure/connector requirements. It's one of those
things where the parts really are a significant chunk of the cost of the
item.

Decibel quit making the
ham-band DB420 (S-420-440-450) as of Jan 1 this year.  From what I was
told, the harnesses for that antenna and other low-volume custom jobs were
hand-made in Mexico.  Either that plant was closing, or the contract house
in Mexico that was making them was closing, whichever the
case.

The standard DB420B (450-470)
works well in the ham band anyway, usually better than 15 dB return loss down to
442 MHz.

  [Repeater-Builder] Bad price from Cook!
If my memory is correct (and it may not be) I seem to recall
that Decibel was going to discontinue selling antennas directly to hams, on
ham frequencies, on a small volume basis. However, it seems that someone said
that they would do a run of antennas on ham frequencies if someone wanted to
  order a large quantity.

I do not know. You mite want to send them e-mail.

Like I said I do not work for them just passing the MSG.
But I do know that we (Metro-Comm) bought two of them and got them
in about 3 weeks or so and they where shipped from Cook Towers in
Delaware.  They are marked with our repeater pairs on them and work
well.
When I tried to get the DB-420 from Tessco they told me on the phone
that they did not sell enough to stock any in the Hams bands. I call DB and
they gave me Cooks number.
So that is all I know. I have been happy with all my repeater parts
that we have gotten from Cook. We have bought Duplexers, Hard-line (Coax)
RFS-455's and yes DB-420's for the Ham bands. It's owned by Hams so they are
easy to talk to as well.

Hello All,
I just got a call from Kathy Cook, AB2LF of Cook towers.
She ask that I let every one know about an incorrect price they had given
out to a few Hams on the list.
Well here goes.
The DB-420 list price is $925.00 and the Ham price is
$814.00 cut to your Ham pair in the 443.??? range or any where between 406
and 512 MHz.
I do not work for Cook nor do I get paid by them this is
just an FYI for every one on the list.
